Hit (scratch) and Run

Post by snarkybc »

I would like to know if there are any witnesses to my car being scratched last night.

Last night around 6 pm, I stopped at Mission Tap house to have an appy and play some shuffleboard. We were in the restaurant for about 1 hour in total. When I got out I noticed a large scrape and dent down the driver's side of my car. It appears someone was backing out of their spot and did not realize they were scraping down the door of my car or someone rode their bike past my car and scraped along for about 24 inches.

If anyone witnessed this incident, please private message or email me.

I had the same thing happen to me many years back. Thankfully, I had the habit of memorizing plates on vehicles beside my car. Sure enough one day I head out to the parking lot about to take a lunch break, and found the driver side of my vehicle was swiped, scarred, and dented. I go back in to work and share with my buddies what happened to find the plate belonged to one of them. She had no clue she side swiped my vehicle although later, Icbc determined that dents in her vehicle matched up with the scar and dent in my vehicle. Her vehicle had oogles of dents.

Anyone that causes a scratch or a dent in another vehicle and plead, "I didn't know it." as a defence, should be have their driving privileges suspended for one year and be held financially responsible for any damages.
They are either too stupid and/or irresponsible to be able to drive. Especially since the bump/grind/damage happened in a parking lot of an establishment that serves alcohol.
Their server should also be partially be responsible for the damage costs. All bars/pubs should be mandated to have security cameras on their parking lots.

Go to Dentique on Leckie Road (behind Kelowna Chainsaw), see Bill. They can remove most dents without having to re-paint your car. I just had a parking lot ding/dent removed on my truck, can't tell there ever was any damage. Much cheaper than repainting.

Dentique did a good job removing dents on my car. I wasn't so lucky with the scratch. Bodyshop estimated $300 if it would buff out - over $1200 if it was too deep to buff. It was too deep so I paid the deductible and ICBC picked up the rest and gave me a rental.

Happened to me as well. Seems like the parking spaces are getting smaller and smaller. Except at Costco.

Costco's are a little bigger because of the size of the shopping carts are bigger and they won't fit past the side mirrors in between cars. Everything is bigger at Costco.
