Actually, gun sales soared to unprecedented highs under Obama. Again, you're incorrect.

Gun sales have since slumped under Trump, a well known defender of 2nd Amendment rights.

GUN SALES DOWN AFTER OBAMA BOOM YEARS

BY CRISTINA SILVA ON 3/23/17 AT 3:36 PM

President Barack Obama became known as America's gun salesman in chief during his final years in office. And gun sales data backs that title up.

Americans purchased more than $29.1 billion in firearms and $16.6 billion in ammunition during his two terms in the White House, an analysis from The Washington Post published Wednesday found. Some of that was fueled by Obama's repeated attempts to introduce gun control measures that could make it harder for some Americans to buy guns. In contrast, during the 16 years Bill Clinton and George W. Bush were president, Americans spent a total of, respectively, $21.1 billion and $22.9 billion on guns and ammo.

Obama's exit from the White House seems to have provided some Americans relief about the security of their Second Amendment rights. Since President Donald Trump won election in November, gun sales appear to be going down. In December 2016, for example, a popular time for gun sales as Christmas presents, the FBI conducted just 2.8 million backgrounds checks. The year before, the FBI conducted 3.3 million background checks around Christmas. Gun sales so far this year appear to have dropped by 17 percent.

That wasn't because of anything he actually did though. It was from a culture of fear and a black man being President.

What that means for you as a firearms owner is unclear at this moment, but rest assured, changes are coming and the Liberals' track record on this won't bode well for you.

I'll base my opinion on any actual laws being put through but I have no problem with restricting legal access to handguns and assault weapons. I reject the gun fetish culture our neighbours to the South have.

Trudeau's ban plan would take both from you.

Had zero to do with the colour of his skin. Black people also participated in the accelerated firearms sales, in case you were wondering.

It had to do with his policies and the effect they had on the US citizens' concern that they would lose rights guaranteed under the Constitution.

The repercussions from his policies were even felt here in Canada, with ammo, component and firearms shortages due to the surge of sales in the US.

The fact that under Trump, firearms sales have tanked, is further proof that Obama was the cause of the gun rush.

You were proven wrong, so just acknowledge it and move on with the discussion.

Look at all the questionable shootings. All the crocodile tears. Obama. Best gun salesman of all time. His disgusting war against gun owners . Likely helped defeat him. Having the atf monitor gun show attendees. Record license plates etc. Taking guns from disabled vetrans. Trying to push ban after failed ban. The tracer round fiasco.

Obama while a gun hating socialist with unlimited funds from crooked Bloomberg and the main stream media jumping ovdr themselves to attack the free american. The NRA stood tall. Took right to carry nationwide. Has the socialist scum on the ropes. Support the NRA they are fighting the good fight. God hope they send lawyers to fight our crooked laws. How the government can let murderers go due to no time to trial. Then take honest people guns ? *bleep*?
Now they want to take our guns away . That would be just fine. Take em away from the criminals first . Ill gladly give u mine. "Charlie Daniels"

He intentionally shut down the last lead smelter that supplied the majority of ammunition manufacturers. His goal was to restrict access to ammunition. And it worked - ammo shortages still plague North America.

I see Jflem has a bunch more. I doubt anything will change your mind, though.

Why didn't you answer my question on the "assault" rifle?

[quote="Rwede"]What's different between your hunting rifle:and an assault rifle:Trudeau's ban plan would take both from you.

Your pics are of a Ruger 10/22.(.22 cal.) top is stock and the bottom has a custom stock, butt and magazine. (Not an "assault rifle) I had one once upon a time (top one) and the only thing they were good for regarding hunting was grouse...
When the media reports " and 500 rounds were found" could very well be 500 rounds of .22. Not really uncommon.

As it stands, I believe Canada's gun laws are just fine. They have tightened up on the restricted weapons permits and conveying I believe but if one is tolerant of these rules, not really a hardship in my opinion. Long gun rules are just fine as well.
The purchasing of ammunition, powder, if you are re-loading, or a firearm all require an acquisition permit where some paperwork has to be filled out and background check done.
Those that want to ban firearms in cities are likely vegetarian, hemp wearing, bicycle riding, pot smoking, political science major, baristas...

I was waiting for this to come. Bring it on. I will be stocking up on ammo. There will be alot of people buying guns and ammo now. Obama tried this same crap and the gun sales when nuts. It was hard to buy guns in Canada as the Americans were buying them before they even made it to Canada. Stupid Liberals

AGAIN, this was a poll that was done for a media organization!!!! READ the story and research it a bit before spouting off about the govt. THEY ARE NOT TAKING YOUR GUNS AWAY!!! Take the tinfoil hat off and relax

That was a funny one.

So what is it. Are u a gun owner or a liberal

I am both a gun owner, avid outdoorsman and a liberal supporter! Are you proud to be so right wing? What is it that attracts you to the Conservatives so much? Is it their cutting funding for seniors, Vets, Coast guards? Is it their reverse thinking on same sex marriages and lgbtq? Is it their Pro gun ownership like the states where you can buy whatever you want with no checks and have gun related issues constantly? Its hard to understand what it is that makes the minority of the country gravitate towards that party. Canada is better off now than its been in years under the conservatives. Canada's gun laws are fine and if they brought the registry back who cares?!! They wont be doing it on paper like last time, technology is so advanced now its easy to implement that again. Also Id like to have my rifles registered and at the very most that is all that has even a possibility of changing federally so RELAX!!!

Agreed, someone is just a fearful person, they should probably take the tinfoil hat off and relax! Guns are going no where and the current gov't wont be making any massive changes. People get so worked up, this topic is regarding a poll that the media requested, has nothing to do with the feds.

No it hasn't. The source references are right in the link. Rwede is spreading propaganda while trying to appear as if he has credibility. Obama never passed any major gun legislation. He was weak on guns. Those are the facts.
