There already IS a toxic culture in the newsroom according to women who have had it with sexism and sexual misconduct.

WASHINGTON – The highest-ranking woman in the Senate, Patty Murray, D-Wash., and several of her colleagues demanded on Wednesday that Sen. Al Franken resign his seat because of a slew of accusations of sexual harassment and molestation.

6 women claim Weinstein cover up was racketeering

NEW YORK (AP) - Six women filed a lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein on Wednesday, claiming that the movie mogul's actions to cover up assaults amounted to civil racketeering.

The lawsuit was filed at a federal court in New York seeking to represent a class of "dozens, if not hundreds" of women who say they were assaulted by Weinstein.

The lawsuit claims that a coalition of companies and people became part of the growing "Weinstein Sexual Enterprise" and that they worked with Weinstein to conceal his widespread sexual harassment and assaults.

Washington (CNN)Two things were clear after Al Franken finished his speech on the Senate floor just after noon on Thursday:
1. He was resigning his seat by the end of the year.
2. He didn't believe he had done anything for which he should have been forced to resign.
Franken's speech was defined primarily by his lack of any real apology and the clear bitterness he carries for being pushed out amid allegations that he had groped several women and forcibly tried to kiss others.

The avalanche of allegations is showing us how ingrained and system wide the behavior has become throughout so many levels of power, from people in trusted positions and suspect positions, and therefore can not be divided into "left or right" politics.

There has always been a small group, represented in all walks of life, that has done whatever they thought they could get away with. What this avalanche of accusations says to these people, is that they didn't get away with it after all.

Republican Arizona Rep. Trent Franks is expected to resign, multiple sources tell CNN on Thursday.

The reasons for his resignation were not immediately clear as the news broke. On Thursday evening, a group of conservative House Republicans gathered around Franks on the floor and prayed with him. Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, one of the members who huddled with Franks, told CNN that a statement is coming out shortly on the issue.
