Only you have to be prepared to live there and run them as a tourist attraction in some way.
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

Brothel?
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?
Apparently "Robin Hood All Purpose" was the wrong answer!

Okay, now that you two have had your fun, come up with something more....errr....family friendly.

How about a medieval themed B&B featuring cooking culled from ancient medieval Italian cookbooks?

New rules: no brothels and no roasting of the Christians. :-X

What if you got awarded with a villa, and you set up one of those speciality foodie places featuring fancy olive oils, balsamic vinegars and food pairing with local wines?

The thing is you only get to use it for 9 years then you can either apply for another 9 or lose it.

What if you spend a bunch of money to get the building in shape to use then just start getting some return on your investment Then the Italian Govt says. Gee it's in nice shape now we'll just take it back for ourselves.

I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

Or, geez, now we're gonna tax you into the ground and Bubba's going to watch your books. Unless it's all electronic as in, cashless.

But yes, Bsuds, the nine years didn't bother me at first, but now that you mention it. Who is to say they won't give it to their friends after taking it back? Too many unknowns. Do you think local Italians know too much and that's why foreigners are appealed to in this manner?
