Why is Canada not looking into this as a viable option for Canadians today. My uncle still lives on land my great grand dad homesteaded in 1904.

Great grand dad walked from Oklahoma to get some land of his own !

How cool is that. Did he move to Oklahoma from Kansas, Missouri or Nebraska? That was common as families outgrew the earlier homesteads and moved on to the next land opportunity.

I asked one of the old-timers why they were eager to move to a place with so much winter. He just laughed said, "You've never been to Oklahoma, have you?" I've never been, but parts of it look quite lovely.

My regret is not asking the questions that now roam about in my skull, but, back then, when I was very young, did not know what questions to ask.

Now no one can fill in the blanks, so just have to use imagination and "borrow" from those who did commit memories to paper.
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.
