Sidewalks are tricky but we do our best not to cover them. If a plow operator goes slow enough a burm will be created along the curb. Similarly if the operator plows at the right speed a burm will be formed across driveways and not launched 10’ up the driveway.

Major intersections and hills are the only things that need sanding.

The rest, people should drive accordingly.

Sanding thousands of km of flat residential streets - wasteful. Waste of sand, waste of labour, waste of budget.

It's not complicated.

because god forbid CH doesn't waste other monies within the budget. I prefer the streets not sanded, but ppl really do drive poorly. When we lived across the street from a higher up City employee that street was plowed immediately. And perfectly. :)
I should apply for a job at the City, Ron is leaving after all.

Every little bit of traction is a good thing.

Just wish they'd spend a bit more in money and labour and use actual sanding gravel instead of the marble sized projectiles they do now.

The grader with the driveway wing is great however most of the streets in Kelowna are plowed with trucks with a belly plow. We will just be thankful our streets get done in as good of an order as possible and we will clean out our driveways. :130:

We must be chosen ones. We get actual sand and the roads are plowed in a timely manner.
It's possible to do all the right things and still get a bad result.
