Why Boxing Day is ... Wonderful?

Post by Thinktank »

I see the camera I paid $499 for six months ago is on sale - limited quantities - for $369 at one store.

A lot of stuff I don't need is on sale for really good prices, and the stuff I might need is just at normal
ordinary sale prices. So what's so wonderful about that?

I'm not sure Boxing Day is the most wonderful day of the year any more.

Thats not that substantial of a savings for a Boxing Day sale. But Boxing Day isn't what it used to be. Door Crasher sales aren't what they used to be either. Door Crasher's used to be $20 for a DVD player, but now they call $20 off a product a "door crasher"

Gone are the days of standing in line the night before, which is unfortunate. Boxing Day sales were something to look forward to at one point in time. Going through the flyers the other day left me very unimpressed.

We don't even get those any more. If there is something we want then I just keep checking for sales and when I'm happy with a price we buy it. Everything you buy will be cheaper sooner or later!

Is everything about commercial? I am not religious, no Christian holiday but I do enjoy time with family and friends. We don't even give gifts, except for the young children. I like boxing day because I enjoy the leftovers more than the real meal, a lot less work. I would say it is definitely another Wonderful day.

I do agree the sales are pretty well crap. I find then much better down here in Arizona. More real sales. We're not even planning to go out. Didn't go out for Black Friday either. Don't need anything that bad.

Due to travel issues, the extended family isnt getting together for Christmas until boxing day afternoon. Now I get to buy everyone's gifts at boxing day prices - almost hope we make this a family tradition.

My wife is part Ukrainian so we also have celebrated a second Christmas on Jan 7th. Boy! I love that food and used to enjoy a few sips of good brew.
