I prefer 18 speeds. Drove an automatic for a week. They're great on the highway but horrible for off highway. Never again.

Lost me on the Traction control/Throttle control. I prefer my right foot, experience, and common sense

Computerized Traction Control works by giving little shots of air to any drive wheel that is slipping.
It does work to a degree. In severe situations though it applies too much, you lose road speed and
it will bring you to a halt, even kill the engine.
You can get more benefit by a deft feel on the brake treddle with the left foot and an easy gentle
throttle control to maximize grip in low traction situations.
This works with all wheeled vehicles.

As for left foot braking;
Engine brakes are at optimum at higher revs, therefore left foot braking in
conjunction with multi gear downshifts means quicker, more controled stops
with less wear and tear on the braking system.

It is done for love, not money.

OTR (Over The Road) usually by the mile, some by %age of
what the load pays.
Local and Regional, by the hr.

What does it pay ?

Not nearly enough if you have one.
Way too much if you require one.

All depends in what industry. logging, and oil/gas over a 100k a year. Not sure about the others. anywhere from 45-75k a year

Traction control sounds like alot of hassel for drivers with no experience. Me personally Ive never used my left foot for braking even for downshifting.

Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner or Mack? Go!

Bahahaha how can you even put a Mack and Freightliner in the same class as Peterbilt or Kenworth. I drove a Pete for the last 12 years and now Im on a brand new KW W800. The KW is very nice truck to drive but my right leg is painful sore from the slant floor and position of the fuel peddle. Not sure why KW does it but it sucks or they need to make a fix for it. So I have to say Peterbilt.
