Transit security pavilion

Post by Queen K »

The City of Kelowna plans to spend nearly $700,000 for new washrooms and change rooms at Boyce-Gyro Beach Park.

The new year-round washrooms would replace two washrooms situated at the park.

The original plan was to upgrade and renovate the central washroom, originally constructed in 1969, at a cost of about $350,000.

Upgrades did not include replacing the roof or addressing the aging construction or external appearance.

Instead, staff are asking for an additional $324,000 to construct a new washroom and change facility that will incorporate modern standards in durability, layout, daylighting and security.

The washrooms would be universally accessible, and open year round, as opposed to the current washrooms, which are closed during winter months.

The facility would also include external showers and lockers for storage.

City council will be asked to approve the new direction, and the appropriation of the additional funding from the capital opportunities and partnership program ($100,000), and the Queensway transit security pavilion ($224,000).

Wait a second. $100,000 for ???? For what?

Because it looks like the Transit security pavilion is completely separate

What is a Transit Security Pavilion? Is it going to be occupied by workers? Security guards? Rather than clean up the downtown drug and prostitution traffickers they're getting a babysitter? What is this pavilion for exactly?
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

This was set in place in 2014 when they re-did the Queensway Exchange. Then it was cancelled this year 'cause there wasn't enough money to build it.

There are two uniformed security staff patrolling the Queensway transit loop. The pavillion would provide something of a home base/office for them I guess.
When someone says they pay taxes, you know they're about to be an ******e.
