Stealing from a church no less.

Thieves smash through walls
Nicholas Johansen - Jan 25, 2018 / 6:20 pm | Story: 217223

Thieves smashed through the walls of a commercial building in Rutland two nights in a row.
Thieves hit a commercial building in Rutland twice in two nights, stealing from two small businesses and a church by breaking through walls.

The first robbery was discovered on the morning of Jan. 16 by employees of a business at 164 Rutland Road North.

A hole was found in the wall of the electrical room of the business, that connected to the RCCG Christ Chapel next door.

Microphones, a keyboard piano, a flat screen TV and a digital console were all stolen from the chapel.

“The loss of these items has had a significant effect on the chapel’s ability to fully operate,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey of the Kelowna RCMP.

The following day, police were once again called to the building to find the RCCG Christ Chapel had been broken into again, but this time, the thieves forced their way through the walls into a neighbouring hair salon as well as a dog grooming business.

While police continue to examine the forensic evidence from the scene, they are asking for the public's assistance.

Those with any information about the robbery have been asked to call Cst. Katherine Bizier of the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.

In answer to the question in your topic title, I think they can go lower than that. Donation boxes for various charities comes to mind. Addiction knows no boundaries.

It may have zero to do with addiction.

I'd put a dollar down that it is likely a couple
kids that live within a block or two of the crimes committed.

Who said that this had anything to do with addicts? Crime can can be committed by anybody for any reason.

Please stop with the stigma and finger pointing please. Kelowna won't become better unless we get past our prejudices.

Please show me verified proof of your statement that is specific to Kelowna, not just your own opinion.

We have thieves just like anywhere else. They don't care what they steal or from who. They are the bottom of the bottom-of-the-barrel scum suckers.

There is no real deterrent let's be honest. They get caught spend three hours in a jail cell and let go on a promise to appear in court. That's if they even show up where to take a criminals word for it that they will.

What we need is laws like in India where they cut your hand off if you're caught stealing. That might actually send a message across.
