Re: Gardening 2018
We have lots of outdoor cats in our area, they discourage the nibblers; bird and rodent alike. And we have my in-laws' dogs visit fairly often, so the cats don't generally use my garden as a toilet (at least not the food garden, counting my blessings!)
I haven't failed until I quit.

After doing a bit of grocery shopping yesterday and seeing the increase in prices, the raised garden will be put back in use this year for a few veggies. Will also do some container gardening - instead of throwing them out I asked for and got 12 nice-sized plastic containers from the store.

Yeah!!! We can start inside window boxes of lettuce and green onion now. Spring is a-coming soon!
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

Re: Gardening 2018
I saw a neat easy and less expensive way to construct raised gardens
Instead of lumber.
This dood rolls out some chicken wire or old wire fencing.
attaches heavy gauge landscape fabric to it with zip ties.
Rolls it into a hoop of preferred size, zip ties the ends together.
Stands them up where he wants them, fills half to two thirds full with
wood chips, sawdust, compost, hay bale, whatever filler to hold moisture.
Then tops with favourite soil, sand blend.
Cheap, quick, versatile.

Re: Gardening 2018
A question for the fine and knowledgeable people of the
Gardening Thread.
I have a lone survivor Bolivian Rainbow Pepper Plant that was placed
into my care a couple seasons ago.
it thrives and produces, how ? I have no idea !
I am not a green thumb or gardener.
I would like to know of a way to turn this one awesome plant, into more.
To keep the line alive, to share, to flourish.
Any fruitful ideas or help could garner plants of your own.
Thanks.

From seeds:
Cloning:
Take a cutting from one of the lower branches, dip it in "Root Tone", plant it a starter soil mix keep inside. Keep it moist and warm.
Transplant outside in May.

PM Bman. Might have some available for you soon. Just ask.

Re: Gardening 2018
Thanks.
Since mine only has two branches, I'm not too crazy
about cutting one off.
Even though it flowered to eight or ten, it only
produced three peppers.
One just went in a meal, seeds and all.
Guess I'll need to take care of any seeds when it is time to harvest the remaining ones.
Why I was asking for more expert advice is, if done wrong, then there would be
nothing left to work with.
The peppers are quite small and maybe only 5 or 6 seeds inside.
They are beautiful though, like little Christmas lights through their colour changes.

The next solution is to order the seeds and start them sooner than later. Darn.
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

That is just another of today's problems. It's called "Built in Obsolescence". Use it for as long as the manufactured designed and then throw it away. Everything from toasters, cars, lighters and now plants.
Say, "NO" to GMO. When will all of these 1st world problems end?
