Unfortunately there is segment of drivers who feel having good winter tires is all that's needed, sorry to disappoint you out there. Add to that common sense using that common sense to drive speeds not written on any sign, but according to actual road conditions.

Stopping (and going) is improved by using proper winter tires, but it's no were near the same as bear & dry asphalt.

I go out of my way to drive when it's snowing like this. Far fewer cars on the road, and it's really fun to drive in the snow.

Add in the fact that when you get to an icy intersection you can be going really slowly and still slide . . . very exciting!

For sure. It's the only time I get to practice my sliding. My wife hates it when I do a four-wheel slide around a corner on dry pavement, but if it's icy, she's more forgiving.

Key this is as long as you live north of 49th winter will & does happen. Only way to escape it is to become a snowbird and go south.... Southern US, Mexico, etc... etc

Naaahhh.....It's the road condition's fault for not providing the maximum legal speed limit for driving on.
