Kelowna Rockets

Post by spike1965 »

Dear Mr. Hamilton,
Thank you so much for putting in the replay boards that were mandated by the league. You wouldn't do it unless you had to. Why would youÉ
You are a pillar of the community.
The scouting staff you have are the best.
You can continue provide the best to the next level short term.
Why should we pay the money if all you want to do is make money.
The problem we have is that all you want to do is the minimal you have to.
As a season ticket holder since 2003 you were blessed that your staff could draft.
You have this town bamboozled in thinking that you are doing a good job. I challenge you ; as a public we could do better.
The defense is too slow, the veterans can`t score and all you wan`t to do is charge more money so you can hire more family. Yes I understand that Prospera outsources the concessions to Admamark
but I`m sure you take a cut.
All the power to you, Mr. Hamilton but you could do better.
Mike

I could be wrong here it would be the owner of the Prospera Place that did the upgrades (A Division of RG Properties Ltd)

The Rockets sure looked good last night when they beat the Blazers 5-0. As I was sitting there before the game started looking at all those championship banners I was thinking how spoiled the fans are here. I think the OP is one of those spoiled fans. The Rockets are a first-rate organization interested in the education and well-being of their players. Not just winning. Kudos to Bruce Hamilton and the entire organization for a job well done!

My wife and I went to the game last night and I have to wonder why they are called the Rockets. There is nothing on their uniforms that pertains to a Rocket.
If you go by their uniforms they should be called the Ogopogo's

The Rockets name dates back to when the franchise was located in Tacoma, WA.

There are several sports franchises where the name and the logo are not related. The old Vancouver Canucks "skate" logo comes to mind. I don't think renaming the team to "Ogopogos" would be a good marketing move.

Hey Sudsy, if you had seen me last night I was wearing the old Tacoma Rockets jersey. I've been told 2 different reasons for the 'rockets' affiliation:
  1. derived from Tacoma's connection with the NASA program. I've not verified that snippet though.
  2. a large amount of smoke-stacks in the industrial area looked like a load of rockets
I guess I should do a bit of research..... :9923:

I can understand if the mascot is the Ogopogo, but teams do not normally have the mascot on their jersy's etc.

The mascot is actually a raccoon :eyeballspin: , but the logo on the shirts does not represent the Ogopogo, but a dragon :eyeballspin: . Who knows the method to their madness?

Well we are over halfway through the season and this is where the rockets stand

Rank Western Conference GP W L OTL SOL PTS
1 Tri-City Americans 42 30 11 0 1 61
2 Vancouver Giants 45 27 15 1 2 57
3 Portland Winterhawks 44 26 16 1 1 54
4 Spokane Chiefs 42 24 15 3 0 51
5 Everett Silvertips 43 24 16 2 1 51
6 Chilliwack Bruins 45 20 19 1 5 46
7 Kamloops Blazers 44 19 20 2 3 43
8 Kelowna Rockets 45 19 24 2 0 40
9 Seattle Thunderbirds 43 14 23 2 4 34
10 Prince George Cougars 43 9 32 1 1 20

With Rockets having so many injuries this season and losing some good player last season is this really a surprise?
Also Rockets made a few trades before the deadline http://reganbartel.blogspot.com/. This is the voice of Kelowna Rocket's(Regan Bartel) blog site. If you have not checked it out already it is a pretty good site. He always has great info about his view on games.

Between injuries and players lost to graduation, the Rockets have been behind the 8-ball all year. I don't think even when healthy, that they are a contender this season, but they can and may still be better than they are. This year is as active as the Rockets have ever been on the trade front; Mr. Hamilton is typically not a wheeler-dealer with that sort of thing. Maybe being faced with only the second losing season in the last decade is making him feel some pressure.

At this rate little if any chance of seeing them in Brandon.

Wow Everett Silvertips have won the last 10 in row, as well as Kootenay Ice.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.
