Re: Children & Facebook
The last few posts above are not Riposte & Parry fodder. The R&P is a forum to debate the issues, not discuss specific personal problems such as this. Feel free to cite personal examples to some degree, but do not derail by making the thread about one specific personal situation. I've removed the post that asked only how the situation was going, which is chit-chat. I'd remove more, but instead I'll just ask that this thread now get back on track and for the personal aspect to be taken elsewhere.

Re: Children & Facebook
This is from Facebooks Privacy Policy.
No information from children under age 13. If you are under age 13, please do not attempt to register for Facebook or provide any personal information about yourself to us. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from a child under age 13, please contact us through this help page.
So my thoughts are, any parent who permits a child under this age is teaching that child that being dishonest is okay.
I was reading where some children as young as 5 & 6 have accounts or log in through their parents account. Excuses range from, the child loves to play the games, I am always there when they are logged in, to their friends have accounts.
I see no reason for a 5 year old to be on Facebook. As for parents who permit a child under the age of 13 to have an account, I wonder if these same parents would get a teen under the legal drinking age a fake id to get into a Pub.
