Not if people saw this.....Japan Earthquake was March 11.

Wednesday 16th March 2011
Mt Fuji Volcano, Japan
A large earthquake (mag 6.2) occurred under Mt Fuji Volcano, Japan on 15th March at 10:31 pm, local time. The epicentre was located 7 km SSW of the summit. The focus was shallow at 10 km. Mt Fuji last erupted in 1708 and is still considered an active volcano. A 2004 Japanese government simulation determined that in the worst-case scenario, a major eruption of Fuji would cause 2.5 trillion (yen) in economic damage.

As with each natural disaster that happens on this planet, there is going to be losses. The economic ones are replaceable in time, the ones which are irreplaceable is life. Be it human or not once gone not coming back.

Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Hurricanes etc etc are part of living on a planet that is alive. We can minimize losses by predicting possible hot spots those are not always 100% accurate.

That you averagejoe for keeping us aware of our planet growing pains.

A strong explosive eruption of Bezymianny volcano on Kamchatka began at 20:20 UTC on April 13, according to seismic data. The Tokyo VAAC reports preliminary reports of ash at least to 33,000 feet. Further information awaits confirmation from satellite and ground reports (now night). The volcano was obscured by clouds and not detectable from satellite yesterday. The activity of the volcano could affect international and low-flying aircraft and the alert code is RED for that region.

Ecuador has declared an amber alert after the Tungurahua volcano started spewing ash again.

A plume more than 7km (4.3 miles) high could be seen emerging from the volcano in central Ecuador.

The authorities evacuated residents living near the volcano's rim and ordered local schools to close.

The Tungurahua has erupted periodically over the past 12 years, but this is its first significant activity this year.
