Where to Donate?
I don't think I asked this before.... I checked my old posts and didn't see it. (For some reason I think I did ask lol)
Does anyone know where I can donate old computer parts?? I have 3 bulky (ya, 90s style) monitors and one tower, all I never use. The Tower has Win 95 on it I think. Would Salvation Army take them?? I don't know any computer people who'll want them for parts! I just want them gone as they have been collecting dust in storage for more than 4 years!
Also!! :) Where can I donate old unwanted books?!?! The 2 times I took them to the Salvation Army, they said they weren't accepting anymore books. I know theres a used bookstore downtown. Do they take donations or buy your used books? All mine are good to new condition. :)
Mmm thats all now :) If anyone has good advice, thanks in advance for helping me spring clean! :)

You can dispose of all electronics at the bottle depot on Rosetown Ave. It's free.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Agreed. The best thing is to take the Electronics to the Bottle recycling on Rosetown. They are the recycler for all electronics with a few exceptions.

Too bad you just missed the Rotary's Used Book Sale. You could have donated them.

Freecycle is a great place to find a new home for stuff that might not have much value on an open market but isn't quite ready for the landfill, and also a great place if you're looking for something that fits the same description. For stuff that might still be worth a buck or two, there are the free online classifieds at Castanet which has a special section for Penticton, plus a couple of Facebook pages that do the same thing, search on FB for "Penticton Online Garage Sale" or "Penticton buy and Sell". There are also the old stand-bys, Kijiji and Craigslist. Good luck!

Honestly, all of these are garbage, and are not re-usable. They'll get recycled but nobody and I mean nobody will take them off your hands to use them.

Captain Awesome - Ya, thats what I was thinking.... no one wants bulky computer monitors, you can get a small flat screen one cheap now. I was actually thinking just throwing them in the dumpster. lol But I don't know if that'll be OK. I don't really want anything for them. Just them to be gone and free up space.
fluffy- Thanks for the ideas :)

The special olympics yard sale on Industrial will probably take your books. Also other stuff that could be of use to someone else.

Re: Where to Donate??
There is a man out of Peachland who refurbished old computers and gives them to the less fortunate. He contacted me on freecycle kelowna. He also takes the old monitors.
Remember that even though that pc may be archaric to us, to someone who many never be able to afford one, it's a gem. I would post it on freecycle or on castanet ads under give aways.
