Just like senior humans, cats feel the cold when they are old, possibly more so because a cats body temperature is higher than ours. So if you have a older cat that has been acting like something is wrong, tail down, energy- less etc but still makes the effort to seek the sun beam coming through the window to try to lay in the sun, or if the cat insists on laying on you,it's probably cold. I found that putting a towel on a heating pad that's on the lowest heat setting can work wonders for your older cat. If your cat is suffering from arthritis or some other ailment, not having to expend the energy constantly trying to keep warm can give them a big boost.
Also for a older cat that has trouble getting around or up and down from bed or couch, you can use books to build them cat stairs.

I am so sorry to hear this. Cancer took my beautiful tuxedo cat 5 years ago. I still can't look at photos of him.
Psychologists say the pain of losing a pet is equal to, and sometimes greater than losing a person that's close. Greater pain perhaps because a person's pet has the owners complete trust and is actually closer in many ways.(?)

^ Perhaps true, though it really depends. My grandpa died yesterday. I'm sad, but I felt more sadness when my dog died.

Maybe it just hasn't sunk in yet, or maybe it's because he had a good long life.

If my child died it would be more grief than a pet though.

If it’s ok to express condolences on the loss of a grandfather here, so sorry, Glacier.
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.
