Thanks to all for your good thoughts, anyone that's had to do this knows how horrible it is.
I know that I would really not be happy without a big good natured male dog, we have a 70 lb. rottie female but I really like to have a big male.
Since I knew the end was coming I have been keeping an eye out for one.
He's sleeping by my feet right now.
8 weeks old,24 lb.s, black with a tiny bit of white trim, big wrinkly face,4 different types of Mastiff.
The female likes him and he's starting to learn his name and where his dish is and that sort of thing.
I bought him a new kennel for nightime and he screamed like a banshee, I plopped him on the bed and he stuck his head under my chin and slept all night.
This was a knee jerk reaction to fill a hole in my life, only time will tell if it was a good idea or not.
I think that for the next year this pup will be the best and worst thing in our house.
I will always miss my big rottie, he was a good companion and much loved.
This little fella is likely to be over 150 lb.s and will require a lot of time for training and spoiling.
That will be a good thing for me right now.
If beer is not the answer.

And who would Dogspoiler be without a pup to spoil?

So happy for you. No furbaby will be like the other, and that's the whole of it.

Sounds adorable and I think it's a good idea - cuddle all of him now when you can. I don't think it matters how big or small a dog is when sharing a bed - they all take up every inch of space they can. Enjoy!

Need pictures of the new addition.
Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

I iz sad.

My daughter's cat go caught by a cougar last week. She was the friendliest cat. She would sleep on my wife's feet and our big 25 lb cat would sleep beside her.

Well wouldn't you know it, when you finally lose all hope, and you see cougar tracks with a mother and kitten or two assuming the worst, the unexpected happens, and she came back. 5 days gone, now she shows up! She is normally not out more than half an hour this time of year.

So false alarm, we thought she was a conner, but the cat came back!

:yahoo: Awesome news Glac. Bet the cat will be kept indoors for a few days.

Yup! I was kicking myself for letting her out at 5 am. The funny part is that my two youngest kids dreamt last night that she came back, but we told them that she is gone for good. Then she shows up! It was -12C yesterday morning and still missing! No cat I know ever chooses to be outside in temperatures like that!
