6 months really. But there is still room in my heart for another... if he will accept other family members so it will be ok if I don't outlive him.

No contact info on the tags? If you can't find the owners, keep the sweetie.

Actually he was brought home from the SPCA here in town, had been in care for a month but he fretted the kennel wire and has a small lesion under his lower jaw from wanting to get out. He has just been so calm and quiet since he got here that I am kinda hopeful he will retain his laid back demeanor. He does get anxious when any one of us leaves the house so I am sure he will need to have someone here with him all the time or get some behavioral training that reduces his separation anxiety. Can't have a dog scratching holes in the doors.

He is a sweetie. He stole a while and when we weren't watching, and took advantage of my bed for a nap. Those golden eyes just do something.... agree?

Re: It followed me home!!
Thanks for that pic, his eyes looked so sad in the first one!
A while back I made a comment in another thread, that I did not think it fair that older people get new pets, like you said because of life span and all. I have since changed my mind. I have seen so many of those sad eyes lately, whatever it takes to make them glisten again.
I hope you are going to keep him, and when it comes to it, please post a pic of him happy, glistening eyes, and loved. : )

That's kind of a "are you ever gonna feed me look"
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?

Sigh... He just cannot be left alone!! When any of the 3 of us leaves the house he fusses, and when all 3 of us even goes out onto the deck without him he is at the door, scratching and trying to leave him alone in the car is inviting devastation. I don't mind being at home with him through the day but sometimes I do have to grocery shop and if I can't leave him at home for an hour and can't leave him in my car for any length of time... what am I going to do? I can't be totally kept prisoner in my own home because of a dog that can't be left alone...

Do we have anyone here who can help with dog separation anxiety?
There must be a way to deal with it.
