There's a saying that you cannot con an honest person.
Guess this guy just spent $25 to learn that lesson?

Rod is obviously a greedy self serving man. He got what he deserved. Good on these 2 relieving him of his money . A fool and his cash will be easy to seperate
Now they want to take our guns away . That would be just fine. Take em away from the criminals first . Ill gladly give u mine. "Charlie Daniels"

Oh I think he had his major doubts but went with the "what if" her story was true.

Wow! He lost $25. Big scam that is!
You can lose more than that donating to a charity that pays enormous sums to it's staff, or to a Church.. There's a scam for you.

Man you guys are cranky.

"The ring was stamped 18k and had a good weight to it," he said.

Rod has since taken the ring to two separate jewellers, and it is not real at all.

Rod's not mad, he just wanted to share his story so others are aware of the scam.

He has contacted the RCMP.

Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

Rod was lied to to get his money and also feel he was helping somebody else. So he thought win win. Yet you were happy that he lost his money. What if it was your grandma or grandpa that got talked out of their money or a grandkid. Would you still think it is good and okay to lie to talk someone out of money. I can't think of a worst type of person in the world that enjoys seeing other people lose

There are so many others to add to that list. This/he is nothing new.

Last night we had a similar incident in Edmonton.A grey van pulled over to us in our hotel parking lot (Quebec plates) and asked if we spoke Espanol. My husband walked over and said,no.
The male driver, well put together in a suit, proceeded to tell him his credit cards were stolen and he needed to sell his ring for a $100.
As we walked away I asked my husband what the ring looked like and showed him the castanet story I had read May 7th.He said the ring was very similar.
Looks like this scam is making the rounds.

I know it still doesn't make a scam right.

However I was curious what similar rings are worth on eBay so I just typed in
mens 18K costume ring and there are pages of them.
similar looking rings are running $35 - $50, so there is a chance they may have actually lost some money
