Holy smokes! I sure hope we hear "the rest of this story" because I can't imagine how these beautiful furries came to be on the side of that dirt road with no homes or properties anywhere nearby. If only they could talk! I want all of them.....

So happy the firefighters rescued them and now they are safe....

It's hard to imagine that it was anything other than accidental. I don't think it would be hard to find homes for them.

They are beauties and not your loveable garden variety Heinz 57's! They look like healthy, well-fed Golden Retrievers or? to me so probably expensive fluffballs - hopefully their people-parents claim them soon and we get to hear the story, but I have no doubt they will have line-ups waiting to adopt them if for some strange reason they aren't claimed! Whatever they are I'm glad the firefighters saved them!

They do look like the pics on Kijiji and the area might fit where they were found! I have never heard of Maremmas - I thought they looked liked the blonde Golden Retrievers....I wonder if Maremmas are crossed with Goldens?

Maremmas are breed of Italian livestock guardian....distinct breed and don't originate from retrievers....healthy looking pups regardless...hope the owner finds them soon.

Although these pups may have been taken by accident, I find it quite alarming that they would be wandering alone next to the road.
They were found by firefighters in this case, however being right next to the road, they could have been hit by a vehicle and / or there's so many indecent people who would have just taken them without reporting the find. I guess this lady will need to prove that those pups are in fact hers.

...the plot thickens!

Even if that paved Mabel Lake Road (if the one in the picture is where they were found) runs through their property if they are allowed to roam freely it doesn't seem very safe for them. They are just puppies and probably not too road-savvy at this point. Especially all 5 of them running loose together. Sounds like they are bred to be livestock working dogs so would normally run free in the pastures but that road gives me pause.

Who lets puppies wander 1/2km from there home without supervision especially during a time when fires are a threat. She either doesn’t care about them or their not hers. She doesn’t deserve them....probably running a puppy mill.

They're working dogs, not couch dogs.:
the puppies are guardian dog puppies. A Guardian dog is a type of pastoral dog bred for the purpose of protecting livestock from predators.

No where does it say the puppies were in any threat or danger of a fire.

what we have here (I think) is a failure to communicate!! the puppies were seemingly abandoned when obviously they were not so a bit of a woops on both sides however given the circumstances I believe the FF did the correct thing

Ha, you are really funny, stolen dogs, sounds like a good intentioned crew didn't consider the hillbilly mentality the owner subscribes to. At the absolute least she should just say thanks and let it go. Funny thing is if the dogs were injured somehow it would be the governments fault for not protecting them.

The crew did the right thing, how about a thanks for protecting them from even the possibility of a problem.

We just got one of her dogs about 5 weeks ago. As soon as I saw the write up I knew they were our puppy’s brothers/sisters and tried calling her. She’s not running a puppy mill and is a very nice lady. The dogs are very well taken care of but they are farm dogs (not couch dogs). They are such lovable dogs too. Our family now has 2 of her dogs and we’re so glad to have them. You can tell by just looking at them that they’re healthy well taken care of dogs.
