Downtown Businesses - No Trespassing Signs
If any downtown business is interested in getting a No Trespassing sign mentioned in today's article, call the DVA at (250) 542-5851. They have two versions, one is a vinyl window cling for the front window and there's a metal version for the back alleys. The metal versions have an anti-graffiti lamination which makes for easy clean-up.

The last line of the article link above...
Give a homeless person "a ticket"? How are they going to pay that ticket?
But with the sign, police have the authority to issue tickets to those trespassing after business hours.

Same way the homeless sitting on the sideways in Penticton got them! (They didnt, but bylaw created authority for enforcement)

Again, it's a revolving door scenario. Get a ticket, don't pay it, get caught again, get another ticket, get caught 32 times get 33 tickets......can't/won't pay any of them. Then what?
Put him in jail, give him a bed and 3 meals a day for 30 days? Will he come out with a clean record to start all over again?
It's a no win situation. They don't care about our by-laws, because they know full well that they will not be enforced.
If they ARE enforced, we pay the price 50 times over.

Oh I totally agree with you. Even if / when they are enforced, there is no longer any punishment or discipline that prevents reoccurrence. It's sad

I tend to agree except I blame the city in general and the police in partial ;;; once you let the wild horse out of the barn its hard to get it back under control and back in

Meanwhile here in Kelowna the snowflakes are handing out flowers and candles to them... Sure hope their homes and yards weren't being looted by the same junkies looking for their next fix.
