Polson Park revitalization (2 votes)-would be nice but just fix what is broken
$1.17M for fire services strategic plan (2 votes)-what is a strategic plan
RCMP building renovation (3 votes)
Well my vote is the RCMP a new building not a renovation, why you say> We are asking more and more of our police and the force is growing well then lets give them a building for themselves so they can do their job.
But what bugs me the most is that they are not even thinking about asking us the people who elected them, pay their wages and pay the taxes.

The most popular was revitalization of Kin Race Track Park with sports fields, trails, an outdoor ice rink, dog park and lands to be set aside for affordable housing and a new active living centre, receiving five votes.

To be exact the ones you quoted is not ones but one item and look at the list and with no cost, and do not forget that the #43 million dollar recreation centre is also planned for this area if they get support. My biggest thing is that they are planning on spending large amounts of money with asking us the taxpayers what WE would like to see our money spent on. Unless you have a big wallet an want to fork out the total cost. I have taken all the surveys on this and never seen the results of any survey conducted by the city in the twenty years I have lived here.
We are coming into some very serious money times for up to twenty years and I want my elected officials to be open, transparent and respectful of the people who pay the bills.

Is that really the best value for the buck. ?If they're actually doing their job shouldn't they be out on the street and not in a brand-new flashy building to do their paperwork in.

A strategic plan is a plan that is developed by a highly paid consultant. A really highly paid consultant. Shouldn't some of this $13 million be blown on a plan that's easy to be written by somebody who knows somebody? The consultant would have to travel to a lot of cities, at the right time of year, and ask how they fight fires.

As a former police officer to do your job well you need lots of room for interviews-big to make people feel at ease, many rooms so no one has to wait, a pleasant reception area-so you are crammed into a small area.
A decent area to park all vehicle in a secure area-on the streets as they do now.

Okay Bob now just because he is highly paid does not mean he knows what he is talking about. Where does this consultant come from big city in the east or Vancouver or even the south, it does not mean he knows what the citizens of Vernon want if he does not publicly ask for our thoughts and ideas. I have never seen a survey from a consulting firm here yet let alone any survey that has presented the results to the public.
The council and mayor are elected by us the taxpayers who pay their wages but they never give us a say in how they spend the money. They hold surveys and have questionnaires but they never make the results public and then ask for our input. The last time I looked this was a democracy and those elected were responsible to those that elected them.
