Vernons council what a laugh

Below is a link to an item on Castanet Sept 24 that just shows how much this city council regards those in need and living week to week.
We have a great need for affordable low cost apartments in this city and what do they do is just okay a new 3 building ten story luxury apt and condos building permit.
Who will be able to afford these only those that will want to live here for a few months and lease it out for daily or week rent, it does not look at what this city needs but just those that afford to pay off those we elect to look after our needs.
Time to throw the bunch of them out.
Councilor Guiring just stated that he wants to get re elected and he runs an architecture company and he lets this get through and then says he is also proud of the climate action plan, well nothing has happened yet have you seen anything in any applications for building that has green initiatives in it. The new building in Alexis park does not every say it is installing electric vehicle chargers. What about the new recreation centre no solar panels, wind turbines, solar water heaters to help keep the operating costs down. No just more unneeded parks and more use of climate change utilities.

Condos without parking spaces. That's just another example of an Okanagan council rewarding their backers. We always hear candidates for council promise "vibrant" communities during the campaign for office, and then when they get elected they do all kinds of rezoning and building of water and sewer lines in the direction of certain undeveloped land. It's just a continuing thing with city councils. Choose who you vote for carefully. Watch for connections to developers and their past performance.

While I know there's a need for affordable housing, that is not what was proposed for the lot.

What should council do, say 'go away and don't come back until you agree to build affordable housing?'

The developer is the one risking his money. Obviously, he must feel that there are enough people who will buy the units.

You can't just MAKE people build stuff that's less profitable.

True... my whine is the fact that Alexis Park Drive is a well used commute route for many and I am curious how this development will impact traffic through that area and for how long. I mean what's a little inconvenience for the hundreds of daily commuters for a couple of years so some developer can make their bucks.
