Re: Thunderstorm warning - watch out!
At 6:30 or so the sky went completely dark in Vernon and we had continuous heavy rain and lightning for about half an hour. It's calmed down considerably but they're still calling for up to 40mm of rain here tonight. Not raining right now, actually quite pleasant and fresh outside.

I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

Ya, it has a dome over it every day except for my ride days which are on sundays
I have learned that to be with those I like is enough.

Honestly I don't think it's going to rain anymore. What a let down.

Same for my place. I haven't had drop yet! Still totally bone dry.

Just got back from Rutland, no rain downtown to Rutland. Nada. Air feels fresh, cooled off, but not a drop.

Talk about a disappointing forecast. They were calling for rainfall up to 40 mm. Places like west kelowna hardly got anything.

Re: Thunderstorm warning - watch out!
But that isn't even the most disappointing part. All other days with rain forecasted have been canceled and changed into more hot and sunny days. Nothing wrong with some nice weather but it's going to get dry, fast. We need an actual rain storm, no more of these little thunderstorms.

I am afraid that, as the World Weather Prophets have been saying for the last couple of years, the Okanagan Valley is marching toward becoming the next Nevada. Less but more violent storms in the meantime.
World (local) Weather patterns are, in general, slowly moving 300 to 500 Km further North and South of the Equator.

The World Weather Prophets are on crack. The storms always skirt the valley in August. The only time the Okanagan valley bottom gets a good solid rain the summer is when a cold front moves through, and yesterday's event was not caused by a cold front. EC should have known better.
There is evidence that we are heading back unto the Dust Bowl years of the 1930s, which were caused in all likelihood by the "warm blob" out in the Pacific:
