So, getting back to the original topic:

Should another tax be levied on cigarettes and related products in order to pay for fighting fires (especially the ones caused by cigarettes).

If not, what other options would work to pay for the firefighting?

(let's try to keep the smoker/non-smoker bias to a minimum, no attacking people please).
PLEASE use spellcheck. If that is too hard, consider installing the Grammarly (free!) app that will not only spellcheck for you (AND offer corrections!) but also make sure that your sentences are grammatically correct.

You're welcome.

Makes about as much sense as taxing all smokers more because of the actions of a few.

Campers are subject to a fire ban during dry spells, are smokers willing to adhere to a smoking ban during dry spells. If not then even you'd have to agree you're comparing apples to oranges.

Do all campers abide by the campfire bans ? I'd say NO as we still here of wild fires started by abandoned or un attended camp fires even during bans. Some whether smokers or non smokers just don't get it , so I don't believe it is comparing apples to oranges.
Do you want to pay more taxes on camping because of a very small minority who ignore the bans.?

LOL Yet your original post attacks smokers by wanting us all to pay for the actions of a select few.

Isn't that what our Society does all the time? ie: Welfare, Health Care, Sending money to under developed countries, War torn Countries, Natural Disasters...the list goes on forever.

I don't see the need to increase the taxes on specific items to fund them. The Gov't takes what it wants to cover it's costs whether justified or not! (think Senators and I don't mean the hockey team)

The answer is NO!
Smokers already pay their fair share of tax and subsidize many other things.
Someone should come up with a smokeless electronic cigarette that is legal and doesn't burn stuff, and is safer for the environment, and all you non smokers will be happier. Then when this cigarette is invented, phase out all other forms of "burning material" and then tax the general public another 50% to make up the lost tax revenue.

All you non smokers should write letters to the government, and tell them to hurry and invent this smokeless cigarette.
In the meantime, people will keep blaming lit cigarettes for starting every man made forest fire, in an attempt to prove that discarded cigarettes are the number one cause of forest fires, even though we have never seen any proof.

Maybe we should tax cellphones more to subsidize insurance premiums? ;)

Why should any more taxpayer money be wasted on a disgusting gross habit, and why should the government waste their time inventing a smokeless cigarette?

You want proof here it is.

Fires caused by cigarette butts

According to the American Burn Association, about 900 people in the United States die each year in fires started by cigarettes, and about 2,500 are injured. About 100 of the fire deaths each year are children and nonsmokers. Nationally, annual human and property costs of fires caused by careless smoking total about $6 billion. In 1997, there were more than 130,000 cigarette related fires.

At least now we know who the sensitive anti-smoker is.

So that all the non smokers will stop blaming smokers for everything, and most of all, there will be no more human caused Forest fires.
