Two small fires are burning near Naramata this afternoon, near Arawana Road.

The fires are believed to be caused by lightning strikes, which have been hitting the South Okanagan throughout the morning.

A BC Wildfire Service helicopter is currently on scene, a three-person initial attack crew is on its way, according to Kayla Pepper, fire information officer.

The fires are currently both under one hectare in size. There are houses in the area, but it is unknown if any are threatened at this time.

This story will be updated when more information becomes available.

It rained very heavy with the strikes.

Just came down from there, and they are working on the guts and feathers.

We saw the Lightning strikes that started these two fires. Wasn't too long before they were out.
