Re: Westside Road about 5k N of Lk Okanagan Resort
All fires receive a number upon IFR (Initial Fire Report) and this is the official identification of the fire. larger fires soon begin to be called by other names other than the number. Soon one name becomes the Identity of the fire for information and press. In this case the fire is K50391 and the name is Westside Road. The name part could well change to Shelter Cove if it continues to be used.

Probably because it looks like the south retardant flank didn't hold, fire has crossed it in a couple of areas.
Finally just saw a heli with bucket heading over the fire.

Could just be dust or steam, there's always lots of that around the mill.tiomio wrote:Looks like a fire started by Gorman's Mill in Westbank now!

You are just throwing out guesses about a fire near Gormans Mill? What are your reasons for doing so? Pictures or a link? Anything?

...even when speculating about fires in other areas - probably best to start a new topic, rather than clogging one up that is for a very active fire at the moment...

Ok....sitting outside watching Westside fire. Looked not too bad awhile ago. BUT .....wind is doing wacky things and shifting. Now we see quite a large cluster of trees candling on the south side. Water bombers all gone for the night. They were hitting the top ridge pretty heavy earlier but the area lower down is what we're watching right now.

Re: Westside Road about 5k N of Lk Okanagan Resort
All the smoke is being sucked back down to the lake, really cant see much except the south flank that has gone thru the retardant guard they laid down all day. Still seeing trees candling.
