Yes, it rained a lot here this morning. Not enough to cause a flash flood but enough to turn the ground into mud.

South end of fire - 4 helis with buckets have been working the last few hours up and over the top ridge. Pretty strong gusty winds on the lake but doesn't look as bad up top.

To Queen K ...

You have to let people know when you have done another rain dance so that they know whether to get their rubber boots on and how much rain the fire lines should be prepared for.

Quailize has no way of picking up on that secret stuff and it is throwing off a few of his otherwise deadly accurate weather predictions.

Was away all weekend.
Wonderful to see the rain had doused a lot of it. But there are still lots of hot spots still smouldering and will be for some time I'm sure. Even tonight lots of little new smoke stacks happening.
Choppers were on it again tonight.
I'm sure this fire will not be completely out till late fall or winter. We learned that from the big one. Lots of peat to snake thru I guess.
Fingers crossed for no more as the temperature rises again this week.

Residents may notice increased smoke on the Westside Road Wildfire starting Wednesday as a result of proactive burning operations. These burning operations will take place in a controlled environment within the fire's perimeter to remove unburnt fuels from the area and decrease the chance of the fire breaching containment lines.

Crews will be also be completing danger tree assessments on the fireline today, and working to mop up into the perimeter of the fire. Recent precipitation is aiding suppression efforts. However, clearing skies and warming temperatures accompany the start of a drying trend in the area.

Are there water bombers on it?

Proactive burning means they are burning left over fuels to reduce the risk of flare ups. No need for water bombers, it's all done in a controlled environment.
