Glad you're back ^
And I hope you'll be safe where you are.

Yes, I was thinking the same, what would I do? One horse maybe I'd know, but that many animals? I have no idea what I'd do with all those animals either

The Canadian Disaster Animal Response Team (CDART) is asking for the public’s assisting in helping aid several horses, that are in the process of being rescued from the Rock Creek area.

A tactical team had been waiting near Beaverdell until the area was considered safe to enter, as a wildfire burns nearby.

Deb Silk with CDART says there is a very narrow window for the team to get in and pull out whatever animals they can.

“We have some horses staged in a private area in Beaverdell, that will be on their way to Kelowna.”

The horses will be placed at the Kelowna Riding Club, however CDART is asking for buckets as well as hay from the public.

“If anyone has any buckets for water or a bale of hay they could spare that would be great.”

Donations can be brought to the Salvation Army, 1480 Sutherland Ave, or the Kelowna Riding Club located at 3745 Gordon Drive.

I'd get on a horse and try to heard everybody in the direction of safety. Try at least. These aren't wild animals, they don't know what to do or which way to go, they panic. Like trying to get a horse out of a burning barn, a lot of times it doesn't work because they go into panic mode. I'm not trying be rude, I have animals I see it from both side, it just hurts my heart for all involved.

Give them the same chance as the people in the campground and let them run.

I truly hope people get their animals back but in a pressed situation it is better to give them a chance than keep them penned and hope for the best. It's a terrible position to be placed in and I feel for those currently affected and the choices that need to be made that are all hard choices.
The last time I won a prize at the fair everyone told me I was a winner, but really, the prize was crap, my wallet was empty and the only happy person was a Carney.

Don't empty your wallets to make a Carney happy folks.

No need to argue.
have set up PLANS for just such an event
I have plans for my absence.
Animals under my care will NEVER be left behind or set off into the wild...when there is a wildfire.

NEVER.

They are getting a little precipitation. The fire is quite calm right now because of the rain this morning.

Where are you reading this?

270 homes were evacuated. I haven't seen that 2500 are threatened. Rock Creek isn't that big.

And that's what happens sometimes. Okay, but homes are threatened and I've been driving though there for like forever and there are many homes hidden from view from the highway which aren't on the radar on a random highway drive.

You see that once you hit the backroads up there. Which I've done.

So you're pet sitter will be home with the animals 24/7 until you're return? Boarding for the duration of the fire season? No wait you/you're neighbour must work at home to always be available? You have made sure the people dealing with your animals know how to handle livestock especially in a panic situation right? (Cause let's face it 1500 lbs of 'oh @%^$# is not easy).

no disrespect meant. Accurate information is critical in these situations, it's the same reason they haven't released much information on the status of properties in rock creek.
