Where are the fires?

Washington is having an incredibly bad year with fires. One of our own, ferri, is right in the middle of things, this is her home area. This forum is to provide a meeting spot for those caught up in the storm, with information, resources, updates, and just sharing information. Please welcome our neighbours.

Where are the fires?

Where are the fires in the Okanogan Complex?

The Okanogan Complex consists of five fires. Except for the Nine Mile Fire, all are lightning-caused.
Lime Belt/Blue Lake fire and Beaver Lake Fire:: As of Tuesday, crews completed constructing and securing line along the west side of the fire, between the fireline and Conconully.

Twisp fire: The Twisp Fire is now part of the Okanogan Complex. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has authorized the use of federal funds to help with firefighting costs for the Twisp River Fire, burning in Okanogan County, Washington.

Tunk Block fire: This fire grew more than 126,000 acres and burned onto the Colville Reservation. It had potential to join the North Star Fire to the east earlier in the week. Crews made progress on the south end of the fire and are working to protect the Onion Mountain communications site.

It's a plot, I can tell. Smoke out the two provinces then take over. Damn. I knew it would come to this. . . .

Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

I am surprised nobody is blaming Stephen Harper and the Conservatives.

it's funny, the air is clearing here to the west, which is actually a bad thing as far as fire activity goes, but a friend of mine in Spokane Valley said the air is horrible there right now and getting worse. i told someone flushed. lol

Does anyone know how much of Washington is on fire? After watching that video, hard to imagine it is less than a millions acres, but does anyone know the total?

The Carlton Complex last year was a record breaker at about 350,000 acres. Last I heard the current one was up to something like 500,000 acres. And still going strong.

Hang in there Ferri! I hope you are ok!!
Epistemic insouciance is a casual lack of concern about the facts or an indifference to whether one's statements have any basis in reality. From now on the Liberal Party of Canada will be known as the "Epistemic Insouciance Party of Canada".

i am safe! thanks! i am sick to death of this though. the fires are exploding in the mountains and valleys to the east of me. i can't see anything but the smoke. here's what it looks like on the map, i think this opens on Chelan so you have to drag up and over to find Tonasket. if you go far enough you can find the Stickpin fire that caused Christina Lake etc. to be put on alert:
