Do you realize that those WorkSafe employees are Union workers ?

i gotta give it to you there. that is true. and god bless them for their 90 k starting salary for occupational safety officer.

Its more like 75-80k to start. And i sense you have a problem with that salary ? OSOs are generally post secondary educated and come with years of industry work experience. Seems fair to me. :smt045

You seem to have knowledge that implies that you also have a great deal of knowledge of WorksafeBC to support your opinion.

Do you have some sort of link to support your accusation ? OR are you just making things up ?

Nope, definitely do not.
confused though as you you are preaching power to them, but still want them sued ...

Also was hoping to now your opinion on the other points i brought up about the striking casino workers revealing exactly how much they earn in tips, and how much is actually claimed.

thats whats fun around here. blatant twisting of true motivations and context. in my toolbox as well. i dont recall saying i want "unions" sued. and i dont want them to be. although if there is mismanagement that would be the correct thing for the membership to do. unfortunately the brotherhood in kelowna went through that sort of turmoil many years ago.

as far as tips. i dont mind the government raising taxes. its the way of the world and is sometimes necessary. especially when hack and slay right wing governments were in place creating a revenue vacuum. and if tips are claimed then great. if they are not - that is between the person and the government - if they get caught. which rarely happens. i mean what tax agent wants to go through the batting eyelashes of a beautiful waitress (hired by a modeling agency to circumvent discrimination laws) and be a bad guy? right? also i wont put myself in a position where i get the morality play "gotcha" in thrown at me. that is too elementary.

So should they have to reveal exactly how much these casino workers earn in tips or not ?

It seems your opinion on that is that you don't mind government raising taxes ...

**Hired by a modelling agency ? Are you saying the BCGEU lets that happen ? I am talking about them.

my opinion is that it is up to the individual what they declare. its a simple opinion. sorry that it doesnt lead to what you are endeavoring. thats life. learn to give up control. you will be happier.

And my simple opinion as i stated a few pages back was that Casino Worker's wages must be taken with a grain of salt. The hourly rate of pay they receive does not give a true indication of how much money they are making as tips make a very large some of this.

Those places aren't begging for more money, or on strike either. I am trying to keep this on topic

I get it.

You want the Casino workers to get more money, but do not think we should get to know how much they actually make, and don't care if they pay taxes on this unknown extra income.

I disagree with that. Our opinions differ. :130:

Well i had to read "through the lines" of all your posts comparing apples to oranges. (The model agency comment regarding servers and tips) [icon_lol2.gif]

As I previously said. I have worked in a union for many many years. Currently i am not, but maybe one day I will be again. Nothing against them.

But I can't agree with a group of employees striking for more pay when they are not willing to admit how much they are making in the first place.

Perhaps if they were transparent they would get more sympathy and less public would cross the line to go play at the open casinos now? Thus putting a lot more pressure on their employer. Or perhaps there would be no sympathy ...

while i can understand what you are getting at with the tips in regards to actual gross earnings - its (tips) a grey area. and varies. thus the focus on wages. should people who make tips not have union representation? because they dont declare tip earnings? if its such an issue then make a deal. casino opens up the books and the workers will.
