What is there to do in Penticton for young adults?
My friends and I have been having trouble finding activities to do in Penticton. We've lived here for the majority of our lives, but it seems most activities are either catered towards the very young or very old. There's only so many times we can go to the beach, and even then we can't go for half of the year. I'd like to go out and meet new people, but it's not really socially acceptable to bother people at the beach.
In the summer, we've got beaches, the channel, and LocoLanding (mostly children). The rest of the year we've got the pool (mostly children), the gym (really expensive), the bowling alley, the movie theater (no talking), the casino (expensive), the event center (expensive), restaurants and dive bars. The only ones you can really socialize at are the gym and bars. The former being really expensive, the ladder being kinda... sketchy. Not sure if I'd trust the people OR the drinks from most of the bars in town.
Most young people are locked away behind screens. I'd really like to meet new people face to face! It seems the only thing people 18 to 30 have left to do around here is drugs... We had The Mule, but thinking about it I don't know what's more depressing, young adults having nothing to do, or young adults having nothing to do but drink.
Am I missing something? What are the young adults in Penticton doing?

Join a sports league like softball? There must be others? Volunteer for Ribfest or join the Peachfest society. Join a service club.
What kinds of things do you like to do?

Interesting post as I can relate.
Young adult with no kids and I find Penticton to be rather boring at times. Still shocked to walk downtown on a Friday night and see restaurants with hardly anyone at them.
I did start playing softball this year. Hopefully get in some more golf than i did last year. But as far as events that promote some social meeting pubs are the only thing i can think of.
would be nice to have some sort of young adults all sports league or something along those lines

Unless you're outdoorsy, the OK in general doesn't have that much to offer. If you're into skiing, biking, hiking, etc., then the OK is a paradise, otherwise its mind numbing.

Based on your comments, I don't think the problem is Penticton. Calling out Penticton's pub scene then affirming the Mule as acceptable is about as oxymoronic as it gets. As far as your odd obsession with "the Gym," there are upwards of 7 fitness facilities in Penticton, all of them having different price points and qualities.

Person 1 "There's nothing to do here..."
Person 2 "Why don't you join a sports team?"
Person 1 "I don't like sports."
Person 2 "You could go to a generic social event in town?"
Person 1 "I don't like people."
Person 2 "Well what do you want to do?"
Person 1 "I don't know...there's nothing to do here!"
All too common. People just don't want to do anything but they expect everything and anything to be available to them at arm's reach.

No, there are actually people who don't like sports or outdoorsy stuff. There's lots to do outside of those criteria that people enjoy, but the OK doesn't offer it.

"The Gym" was a blanket term for, you know, gyms? Not a specific reference to the gym "The Gym"? Awfully confrontational... Also not sure what your point about "I don't want to meet people" is when it literally contradicts the entire point of my post. I do want to meet people, that's why I made the post. Why strawman me when I'm not even making an argument?
I mean no offense, but Penticton's pub scene isn't exactly a friendly environment you can just walk into and strike up conversations. Most people want to drink and be left alone. As bad as The Mule was, the whole appeal was the social environment it provided. It was easy to meet people there because that's where you went to meet people.

Try these 2 things, and see what comes of it.
1) get out of your comfort zone
2) look outside the box
if all else fails be dog walker for spca/humane society or volunteer with a organization in town.

I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

So you and your friends are looking for new activities, and to meet new people?
What kind of activities do you currently do?

Mixed soccer teams. Climbing gym. Skaha Bluffs. Road bike. Mt Bike clubs. Mixed slow pitch. ( if you can walk and chew gum, you can play slow pitch) Tennis. Gym is not expensive compared to going out one evening a week for a burger and a couple of beer.
Stamp club.... Volunteering at the soup kitchen.... Go to Little Hats theater.. Rugby club... Look into sailing lessons....
If you like watching cars going around in circles on a 400M track, there is Penticton speed way. Wine tasting, and now beer tasting. ( spit if your driving)

Like what? What doesn't the Okanagan offer that you can mysteriously get somewhere else?

Is there a venue that offers board games?

If you're looking for that scene, there is the Parrot or Brexit on weekends. Pirate's Cove is becoming is a greasy little hang out too. Sounds to me like you're just looking for a nightclub.
