I am not really trying to pick sides in this debate but to be a devils advocate as it applies to a persons right to privacy as far as medical history goes.......how many of you would willingly declare your STD status and history before being granted permission to enter anything? Think about that for a moment. Where does the slippery slope begin and end? Or have you had a TB test. That is required in the food industry....why not the customers who ultimately share cutlery and plates and tables?
I happened to come across this exact supposition on a you tube video and previously leaning toward passport.......that simple question really made me think about how much private information can be legislated to be exposed to a hostess at the front door. And that Hostess/Hostee's restriction to share or not share with anyone else. It could affect peoples employment.

I think whether or not you have received a preventative vaccine (which, lets face it, basically EVERYONE has during various stages in their life already) is completely different than someone's STD history.
Which I'd happily share to get into a place to enter.

But hey, a person can be charged for not disclosing their STD history to a partner here in Canada. Are you against that as well?

Pay attention here soupy. Disclosing your STD and last treatment history to a Hostess at a restaurant is every bit as invasion into your medical record as a Vaccine verification requirements for covid. When was the last time you had a TB test soupy? It is required for food service personnel but not the customer?? That blows your (which, lets face it, basically EVERYONE has during various stages in their life already).
I clearly said "devil's advocate". I lean toward vaccine and have been jabbed twice and will be first in line for when a booster dose becomes available. All I was pointing out is that with Vaccine passports becoming forced upon us, what is the next requirement of someone in a uniform to say "show me your papers".
If you do not understand that, you are ignorant of history and will be a perfect candidate for a position close to the regime in a totalitarian state where nearly all aspects of life are controlled by the government.
I would humbly suggest you move to the USA where you have a Joe Biden that is a Justin Trudeau on steroids.

Last time I checked a fellow customer isn't the one preparing my food.
Comparing disclosing a Covid Vaccine to an STI is ridiculous. Even you know this.

If this treatment history is so private I assume you refuse to tell your Dentist when your last cleaning was, or your optometrist when your last eye test was done.

I can't fathom you are saying I am ignorant to history and you try to make the old Covid to Holocaust comparison. It's lazy, and attention seeking.
The Holocaust was the systematic murder of millions of people. The vaccine passport is a policy to protect people.

PS. What do you really think a hostess, or anyone for matter, will do knowing your vaccine status? Here you are admitting to getting vaccinated, but also saying its no one's business.

Hey Twobits,

Soupy never made a Holocaust reference. He just used the term “papers please” which is the exact scenario you have all willingly played into every time you go out to eat, go to a show or a hockey game. Historically speaking, once a government possess that power, they do not give it up without a major fight.

Don’t forget that Dr. Henry said herself that the passports are not about reducing risk in high risk settings, it’s about making life inconvenient for the unvaxxed. That is coercion. Pure and simple.

Forget not that the vaxxed are shown to carry the virus just the same as the unvaxxed. They spread it just the same too.

Go ahead and feel good about your willingness to create a second class citizen over their refusal to take a shot from an industry with a long track record of making drugs that prove to be unfit for use.

Both of you have a serious comprehension problem. I have no willingness to create a second class citizen over their refusal to take a shot. You are. I have clearly stated, and you chose to not read, or understand because of some unknown defect, that I am pro vaccine....have two jabs.....and can't wait for my third.
The Gov't has created second class citizens by mandating inoculation. Read this carefully. The Govt has mandated a vaccine passport for any that choose to enter or take part in numerous activities. Who then created the second class citizen?
Wandering Chef was right when he/she said "it’s about making life inconvenient for the unvaxxed. That is coercion. Pure and simple." So read those very correct words and tell me if is I, a pro vaccination person, or the govt with a passport requirement to use a bathroom if it is a private hospitality business or govt facility to have a poop, is creating a second class of citizen?

You've missed idea of the negative connotation of "papers please" (or with no "please"). We produce "papers" at many locations and instances in our day to day life. We go to the hospital, we produce our Care Card ("papers") it identifies us and indicates we have health insurance. Depending on our age we may need to produce "papers" to purchase liquor, or be served liquor. When we enter Costco, we show our membership card ("papers"), again at the till we produce our membership card ("papers") to complete our purchases.

And now because of the pandemic we produce our proof of vaccination and ID to enter indoor locations such as restaurants, bars, sporting events, etc.

You'll notice that all instances of producing "papers" by us wanting to enter premises or make purchases. The negative connotation of producing papers on demand is when we are told to produce papers when we are NOT entering a premises or buying something, for just walking down the street.

So, if we arrive at a time when we must produce papers to walk down the street while minding our own business then you'll have a point. Until then the concern about "papers" is nonsense.

I feel that we, as citizens have the ability to be vaccinated and yet not stand for the passport program by not getting the passport and not giving in to the demands of the government.

That is why I have chosen to get the jab but refuse to get the passport.

Getting jabbed and getting the passport is what gives the gov the power. If all the jabbed refused to follow along amd show their “papers” the system would be abolished pretty darn quick amd we could return to the “normal” we k ew just 2 years ago.

As it stands now, the “normal” we knew. Is gone until we ALL demand it back.

To get back on topic.
I have no problem showing "my papers" to a hostess. I am not afraid that hostess will use that irrelevant piece of my medical history for nefarious purposes. Nor am I embarrassed about it.

Chances of the hostess at Bad Tattoo seeing "my papers"?

It’s never coming back, “papers” or not. Covid is here to stay and when it looks like it’s gone, there’ll just be another virus showing up.

You are missing the point entirely. This new passport is a blanket pass to allow entry to facilities. Right now it is a covoid vaccine. You bend over and agree that this is a reasonable requirement.....what is next? Of course you are not embarrassed about fessing up a covid status.....who would be. What you are failing to understand Soup is once you give an inch of control to the Govt over where you can stand based on given up private information that could range from religious to medical status for a pass.... you have created precedence for ever more restrictive control. And I do not wear a tin foil hat. I just have a very extensive family history of other people taking away simple freedoms that you and others here seemingly just take for granted.

Besides all of this govt attempt at controlling our lives......how stupid are vaccine passports when it has been clearly proven that the fully vaccinated are being reinfected and carriers of the virus that they can spread.
It would thus conclude that a vaccine passport only provides some sense of security that exposure will only result in mild to moderate symptoms.
It would then be best advised to recommend unvaxxed people not attend because they themselves are putting themselves at a far greater risk. Duh??
So what does and who does having a vax passport protect from infection?? No one in a public setting as far as I can see.
I await a rebuttal from the informed.

My opinion with zero evidence to back it up is that the Vax Passport was introduced to push more people to get DD'd (not a larger bust), a feel good measure for the vaxxed when they sit down to dine we can feel self righteous and a typical government mandate of needing to be seen as doing something

It is incentive for the unvaxxed to get on board. Which, sadly in this day and age, is far too a political battle for some to get a few tiny needles in their arm to help prevent the extension of another historic pandemic, that can be controlled by vaccinations.

Yes, vaccinated can get Covid. But considering how 90% of BC is fully vaccinated and only count for 40% of new cases it is pretty easy to see that the unvaxxed are still the majority in that terrible stat. Not to mention they are way ahead in the hospital case percentage.

Did you put up this big a whine when the started to enforce drinking and smoking laws too? Damn government controlling who can buy liquor and where it can be consumed. WHATS NEXT!?!?
