Yes, if you raise the minimum wage too fast you will create more unemployment. If you think it's better to be unemployed than working at a job that doesn't make as much as you'd like you must be an NDPer.

Can you please provide some proof of this outrageous statement. Can you show us anywhere this "actually" happened or is this another example of you making it up as you go along...

If you think working 3 jobs just to survive is a "great" economy, you might be a Liberal.

http://www.frbsf.org/economic-research/ ... mployment/

Using a −0.1 elasticity and applying it only to teenagers implies that higher minimum wages have reduced employment opportunities by about 18,600 jobs. An elasticity of −0.2 doubles this number to around 37,300. If we instead use the larger 16–24 age group and apply the smaller elasticity to reflect that a smaller share of this group is affected, the crude estimate of missing jobs rises to about 75,600. Moreover, if some very low-skilled older adults also are affected (as suggested by Clemens and Wither 2014), the number could easily be twice as high, although there is much less evidence on older workers.

How do we summarize this evidence? Many studies over the years find that higher minimum wages reduce employment of teens and low-skilled workers more generally. Recent exceptions that find no employment effects typically use a particular version of estimation methods with close geographic controls that may obscure job losses. Recent research using a wider variety of methods to address the problem of comparison states tends to confirm earlier findings of job loss. Coupled with critiques of the methods that generate little evidence of job loss, the overall body of recent evidence suggests that the most credible conclusion is a higher minimum wage results in some job loss for the least-skilled workers—with possibly larger adverse effects than earlier research suggested.

Next question.

Here is the most simple math i can provide

Say a business can afford to pay $60 an hour to its employees
It has 5 people making $12 an hour.

If min wage goes to $15. the same $60 only pays for 4. One gets get eliminated.

Sucks to be the guy or gal who just got let go, but i guess it depends on if you care about them anymore now that you get $3 more an hour.

But one must ask why after over 12 years of begging the government to fix Westside Road, voted one of the worst and most dangerous roads in BC they did absolutely nothing until the by-election for Ms Christy when she made it a "vote for me and I'll fix it issue..??"

That's a flat out lie, so there's little point in discussing when it begins with nonsense.

Westside Road had already undergone several improvements, before Clark was voted into her riding.

She simply added a few more improvements to the list, plus a number of others in the Okanagan.

That's a heck of a lot more effort than the NDP put into Westside Road or anywhere in the Okanagan even though they had a decade to do what they felt was important. Just wasn't anything in this neck of the woods.

The fact that you revealed a special NDP way of categorizing various projects as not being Liberal accomplishments, may fool a few of your buddies but not the majority of people.

I will say though, if the NDP do get into power, I'm looking forward to applying the same technique to anything they try to claim credit for. I can hear the cries of foul already.

Citizen: Oh but Mr. Horgan you can't claim the NDP brought us that project, as you got one third of the funding from the feds.

Mr. Horgan: What are you talking about? Your NDP government paid for two thirds of that project, so of course we provided it for you.

Citizen: Oh no Mr. Horgan, according to your membership, anything you don't pay for in full, you can not claim credit for.

Mr. Horgan: That's ridiculous, provide proof!

Citizen: No problem just go to www.castanet.net and check out the forum. [icon_lol2.gif]

That math goes right over an NDP's head.

Just want to point out that yes that $60 then only pays 4 employees, but you can also bet they still have to do the work of the eliminated fifth one.

Honestly, Urbane did nothing of what you stated. That video was disgusting. What kind of idiot thinks that it's a "dream job" to work for the Stalin Foundation. What a total *bleep*. And then he's mad because the Stalin Foundation can't pay him enough to live in Vancouver. So then move, and work for the Stalin Foundation somewhere else. Surely there have to be imaginary problems demanding unworkable solutions be stubbornly implemented with reams of taxpayer cash elsewhere in BC, not just in Vancouver. The entire story, including the poor sap wanting to work for David Stalin, is just ridiculous. Beyond ridiculous. Shame on everyone involved in this nonsense.

There are only individual rights. Either we all have the same rights, or we're just groups of special interests fighting for preferential treatment.

Umm, under construction as we speak.

There's goes another bubble! [icon_lol2.gif]

Some of the statements showing up in the last week, about what the Liberals haven't done, are frankly beyond ridiculous.

Right up there in the same realm, as saying the Liberals weren't responsible for the Oyama bypass, because the federal government contributed one third of the money, with BC covering the other two thirds. :200:

I'm not sure what's worse, that the NDP fans come up with this type of silliness, or that they actually think someone will buy it?

That's a really cute artist's concept of the Penticton Hospital, GB. I usually don't bother with comments from people who are so far removed from reality, but you need some facts, not just election campaign bafflegab.

That Penticton Hospital tower was promised before the 2013 election. Since then, the only money that has been offered to begin construction of this project has been from the Regional District and private donors. Had it not been for the residents of the South Okanagan, the shovels would never have hit the ground. It's been four long years since Christy had that photo-op in Penticton, and a few weeks ago, just in time for another election campaign, there appeared to be the beginning of some construction there. They even moved in a couple of large cranes to make it look like something big was going to be happening soon.

It's mind-boggling to know that so many British Columbians are unaware of what's happening in this province, and that they believe everything the present government tells them.

Right. Because there's no construction going on there at all. SMH.
