Clark denies legal aid to women in danger

Post by maryjane48 »

The Single Mothers’ Alliance of B.C. has filed a petition to BC Supreme Court stating the provincial government hasn’t been fulfilling its duties to all of its citizens.

Lawyer Kasari Govender says single mothers or victims of abuse have to be in extreme poverty to access legal aid.

“This isn’t the government’s decision anymore, how to spend money. This is about constitutional rights and the government has a legal obligation to fulfil constitutional rights.”

he province slashed funding to legal aid by 60 per cent in 2002.

bclibs =women denied protection

Eventually, the BC Liberals ended up closing 85% of all legal aid offices, and laying off 75% of the legal aid workers / lawyers. Remember this when you go to vote on May 9th.

Yes, everyone who votes NDP should vote on May 19th.
Epistemic insouciance is a casual lack of concern about the facts or an indifference to whether one's statements have any basis in reality. From now on the Liberal Party of Canada will be known as the "Epistemic Insouciance Party of Canada".

If you vote May 19th you will have missed the boat by 10 days.

Voting Day for everyone is May 9th folks, and the advanced polls open today.

Wouldn't be the first time the NDP missed the boat. [icon_lol2.gif]
