Beware of a brain drain

Post by Urbane »

Many worry about there not being enough doctors and the problem will be exacerbated if the NDP raises taxes on those in the top bracket. Other professionals may move elsewhere as well. Horgan hasn't provided the details but has talked about making the "wealthy" pay more. So the NDP doesn't want to provide details now but they bristle when someone speculates about the possible rates. How about they come clean and tell us how they're going to pay for their promises??

With just a week to go until British Columbians go to the polls, the BC Liberals are accusing the NDP of plans to raise the top tax bracket by nearly 10 per cent, potentially causing a brain drain.

The party has seized on new numbers from the B.C. Business Council, which argue that the tax increases in the NDP platform coupled with a need to pay for scrapping the MSP — while shielding low-income people from the effects — could result in a top marginal tax rate of 56 per cent or higher.

You might as well ask a five year old to explain the theory of relativity. They have no clue how they are going to pay. Paying for stuff isn't what concerns the NDP. Hiring as many NDP cronies and paying them six figure salaries with taxpayer cash is their main concern. Why would you ever concern yourself with how things are paid for?? You just borrow what you need, forever. The money machine never stops!
Epistemic insouciance is a casual lack of concern about the facts or an indifference to whether one's statements have any basis in reality. From now on the Liberal Party of Canada will be known as the "Epistemic Insouciance Party of Canada".

Many on the left have this misconception that you can just jack up tax rates without any consequences. Despite all evidence to the contrary. Raise taxes on corporations and the corporations pass the increases on to consumers. Or they leave for another jurisdiction. And if I had spent seven years or more becoming a doctor, and the local jurisdiction decided to raise my taxes, I'd look for somewhere else that would treat me better. The movers and shakers in the NDP need to think things through! (I know I'm asking a lot).

The NDP has no idea what the consequences of its stupid policies are. Most people are smart enough to know that we'll lose doctors and other well-paid healthcare workers in droves if we tax them the way Horgan plans to, but it seems the NDP and their supporters are just too damned stupid to understand that. If you think people have trouble finding a family doctor now, what's it going to be like when they move 80 miles away to a no tax state because Horgan grabs at their wallets here in BC? What an imbecile Horgan is!

Simple solution. Pay doctors the same as we pay janitors. Bring in a socialist utopia like they have in Venezuela so that everyone is equal (equally poor that is).
