Greyback Mountain/Little White Mountain Fire

This fire is growing pretty good. Person caused.

It says 2 ha on the wildfire website, but the Google data looks bigger.

I have learned that to be with those I like is enough.

No. Looks like it is just east of the Canyon Lakes Road that goes from Greyback Main to Myra.

No maps this time Glacier? :135:
Damn it, another fire, what part of "stay out of the back country" do people need anyways? :cuss:

I don't see the Conkle Lake fire on it :135: But nice map, I am glad to see Hwy 12 in WA seems free and clear, we plan to take it on the way to the Oregon Coast.

Conkle lake was hard to find on the interactive map......I had to keep clicking on all those fires!!! Conkle was the red circle one, right on the border almost.

It's in an area where motorized vehicles aren't allowed currently.

Correction: There are no restrictions on Motorized vehicles in this area; only motorized off-road ATV/M.C.'s. People in a truck can still access the area, though they are strongly advised not to. Should be completely off-limits to anyone at this time, as was done in the Southeast area of BC.

Note: there is a DC-3 in the area dropping firefighting parachutists into Greyback fire at the moment. Callsign is: "Jumpship One"; believe it is from Northern B.C.

I haven't been to that exact spot in a few years, but last time I was there wasn't an FSR there (not one which wasn't ditched, anyway). If that's changed, then fine. I do know they've done a bunch of logging to the west of there more recently, so perhaps there's new/re-opened “defined road surfaces” (as per the guv'mint) at that particular spot now.

The road into Greyback lakes is not ditched (except coming up from the old route via Penticton, past the landfill). You could drive a car into the lakes (but I wouldn't); I believe this fire is slightly further North, nearer Canyon Lakes and Little White Mtn. That road (if you can call it a road) is horrible.
