Looking out my living room window.

Second picture has a puff of smoke from the lightning in the first picture.

Hopefully things will calm down overnight and they can hit them hard tomorrow morning. Definitely quite a few fires in the area though.

I'm surprised by the lack of information right now. Can't seem to find any updates on what's going on.

I've been listening to the scanner and except for a reference to needing more assistance in the Brent Rd. area I'm not hearing much. We're sure seeing a lot of smoke in various directions though and the wind is a concern. With so many fires popping up within a short time, and with thunder and lightning in the forecast, you worry about the available resources. Some of the best updates are right here on these threads!

Lightning caused fires are going happen & there is nothing to prevent them. It's human caused fires that can be for the most part prevented (I am aware, maybe not all).
BC forest fire fighters have more then enough work just dealing with lightning strikes.

Hopefully no structures will be lost tonight and the forecasted cooler temperatures over the next couple of days will help suppression efforts.

Things look better today. Cool temperatures should give a bit of a break for a couple days.

Since there is lightning in the forecast again I'm going to post this link: http://www.lightningmaps.org/?lang=en#m ... dl=2;dc=0;

I'm not kidding here, I watched that last lightning storm and I swear that every strike started a fire. :/

During the last storm, I got similar results out of windows - especially the north facing ones.
