Not able to send email when in Cancun

Post by BCfromBC »

On a recent trip to Cancun I was not able to send emails, on my telus account. Yes I was on the hotel wifi.
I could receive emails though.
To get around the sending of emails I used gmail which worked good.
Tried looking on telus site to no avail.
Any explaination for this? Thanks

You have to use Telus Webmail when you are out of the area.
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?

Well I have been playing with telus webmail and have come to the conclusion that it is an evil abomination :cuss:
GMail will have to suffice while travelling.

I use outlook but my Telus mail forwards to it.
You can forward your Telus to Gmail as well or anywhere for that matter. I have several different emails and forward them all to one place.

It amazes me that MickeySoft has such a poor Mail program in Win 10.

Not me, they still have a very proprietary mindset and don't play well with others.

The least MS could do is add pushmail to windows 10 email.

I tried it for awhile but every time there was an update it just stopped working until you did the update.
It was frustrating so I just gave up. I use outlook webmail and that works OK for me.

Question...why would you want email when you are in Cancun other that to taunt your friends?

Many ISPs will block outgoing mail unless it goes through their own mail servers. Since you were trying to send out, it probably means that they were blocking all outgoing eMail ports.

Some ISPs like Shaw only care if you are on their network, you can switch the outgoing eMail to their servers and send eMail out; others require you to have an account on their system in order to send mail out.

Your best bet is always to see if your ISP has a non-standard outgoing eMail port, and permanently set your outgoing settings to that nonstandard port, or to use a webmail option while you are on the road.
