Just discovered this nefarious spy bug. Was secretly uploading all pics , contacts , web search history. U name it to go knows where.

If u use android make sure to disable this garbage. I had to delete over 1200 pictures then remove my acct . Bet its all still there for anyone to find too. Sick

Why is this any more nefarious than Dropbox, Microsoft Onedrive, Google Cloud, or any other cloud platform?

There are settings within the phone to enable/disable any aspects one may be leery of.

Its automatic. I never asked for any of it . Dont remember downloading it. Dont want it.

It's a back up service for your phone. If you don't mind losing everything if you phone dies then shut it all off.

When you purchase a new device, of any kind, it's up to you to learn about everything it does or doesn't do.

If you are on Facebook then you are hooped anyway. It probably knows more about you than your Mother does.

Ya true that. Been off fb for a few years.

I used it to perfectly and instantly restore, to a new phone, everything from my old one when it was bricked.
I was praising it then.

Also, it does not make your data available to anyone.

Recently got DW a new phone and took about 5 min to set it up and download everything into it.

Impressive to say the least...Now if she would please learn how to use it.

So is Onedrive when you run Windows 10 so what's your point?

My point is you are complaining about a feature of your phone, one that it shipped with, one that it's your duty to be familiar with when you purchase such a device.

It's hardly as sinister as you make it out to be, and you've had the ability to turn off any aspect of it that you don't like, or all of them for that matter.

Its a massive privacy breach. Its un wanted. It should be opt in not opt out. This is the type of thing that leads to identity theft and god knows what else. What a stupid program.

Well many would disagree with you and find it has its uses.

Anytime one gets a digital device, computer, whatever, they need to inform themselves as to how things work, what features it has etc., and most manufacturers have proprietary items set up to run automatically, just as Samsung Cloud, Microsoft Onedrive, and others.

Microsoft even has their operating system update function, set by default, to have a computer also function as a server, something I completely disagree with, thus the first thing I did was turn that off.

In this case I just feel you are getting overly worked up, about something that is common practice in this day and age.

There are simply certain things everyone needs to be aware of, and act accordingly.

Personally I'm far more annoyed by software sites who offer downloads, but what the unwitting don't grasp is that if not careful, the act of installation of said software, will also install other items that are generally unwanted, but could have been prevented, had the person simply been observant, and unchecked little boxes that gave permission for the installation of the unwanted items.

These times are far more about opt out, than they are about opt in, whether we like it or not. The only power we have over this is knowledge.

If you’re gonna buy a device without understanding it. Click the “I agree” without reading it, and not bother to tweak the settings to your preferences, and then complain about it, you’re probably better off just putting the phone down and staying away from technology. Just accept that you are no good with it.
