They also had it at Staples for similar price.

Did it come with a sensor so it knows when the door is opened or closed? I didn't see one in the description?

Sorry, I think I posted the wrong listing. Here's the same from Staples:

https://www.staples.ca/products/2949363 ... oor-opener

Yes, it includes the sensor which is a bit of a pain in the butt to install but it gives the extra features I wanted.

Overall pretty cool. Now I kinda want to buy a whole buttload of smart switches and smart outlets, but they are pricey...You never know how many switches/outlets you have in your house until you want to upgrade them all lol.

That link makes more sense.

I have been looking at similar ones from China at half that price but not sure whether I need/want one or not.

I bought 2 wall switches on Amazon for 18 ea and really like those. I installed one on the outside lights to control Christmas lighting.

I have 16 smart sockets controlling lights around the house that will also be very handy with my DW's plethora of Christmas lighting and decorations. I have spent anywhere from 4 to 10 ea for those. Most at 4 bucks ea.

I get a kick out of what they can do and Google is updating the app all the time to do different things.

I also know they have 9 lives. He's done it 4 or 5 times now, so still a few left to go.

The last time he was gone for 3 days, and came back starving. The longest he was gone was 5 days in he dead of winter (think last February deep freeze). We thought he was a goner, but the cat came back the very next day 5 days later, and not starving at all. Must have found good feed.

When he comes home, he usually sleeps for 12 hours straight in his favourite chair. Must be out partying with the ladies (even though he's fixed).

I got a smart garage door opener for my birthday. The unit we have is a Craftsman door opener made in 1991.
Apparently it's not compatible and the test to see if it will work also came up negative.

Looked like I was either going to send the smart opener back or buy a new opener, but after doing some searching with Google I found out I could hook it up to the wall push button. Gave it a test and it worked! I had to buy some extra wire but I'm a happy camper.

Now to install the 2 new smart wall switches and where to put them.

I've installed a smart doorbell. It doesn't require monthly payments but gives you all the functionality of a smart doorbell. Anytime somebody comes to my door or rings the doorbell, I get a notification, I can talk to them, and if they have a package I can open my garage door so they can put the package inside. Pretty cool.

Jehovah's Witnesses will be disappointed as now I will just ignore their knocking, but hey, that's their problem.

Still don't own any of the many smart devices, I am very happy about that.

I had fun with the kids on Halloween. When my Wife was answering the door I would tell them to run (through the doorbell cam) because the Wicked Witch was coming to get them. lol

Got some good laughs.
