The Q8200 came out in the 1st quarter of 2014 so it is a 7 year old CPU and not much better than the i3 of the same vintage.

Sorry but you probably could have done better for your money.

Personally I find it a bit of a stretch calling that a gaming computer. Gaming PC's are generally defined by their graphics capabilities and a GT 730 is practically entry level insofar as a graphics card goes.

My PC runs a 6 core Xeon processor with hyper threading, so able to do 12 tasks at once, 500GB SSD hard drive, 12GB RAM, and a similar graphics card, but I'm not a gamer and my PC is over ten years old.

Rarely does anyone get more than they paid for.

Just my opinion though so hope you enjoy your purchase.

I'm not so sure about that. I spent more than that on my case. LOL

... and the seller is posting "You won't believe what I just sold for $257.95!"

I'd ask how much shipping was but if I know GAMEMASTER we won't be hearing from him until he posts his next used rig find. Maybe he'll surprise us with an Apple I!

Speaking of old computers, did anyone see this computer for sale on Castanet? ...

For $5000 it better run Witcher 3 at 4K! [icon_lol2.gif]

CS:GO can't be used as a benchmark for performance since CS:GO can be run on an average coffeemaker on highest settings.

In my experience, any decent performance computer (gaming/media work) always costs $1.5-2K no matter what year...

Yup, you constantly have to upgrade.

I spent double that on my graphics card, and it still struggles on the latest games. Maybe double that again to upgrade the CPU and I MIGHT be able to refer to my rig as a "gaming" computer. $257.95 buys pretty much a web browser.

Maybe enough power to play Fortnite at 720p @ 32 FPS.

Upgrade parts are dirt cheap if you can find them.

For $257.95 I would have saved up a little more money then looked around used computer ad sites instead. You can find some really nice used high-end custom built gaming systems for well under $900. A few years ago I bought a used gaming computer for $650 that was valued at around $3400 in 2013. The seller said the money will just about cover half the cost of the graphics card in his new system. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with a 1000W power supply, a 10 bay full-tower 8 fan case, an unlocked BIOS/CPU and an unlocked EVGA graphics card! [icon_lol2.gif]

It's not a bad PC for $260. And would have played most games when it was 1st released. Unfortunately, as it sits now it'll struggle to run most modern games even with video quality set to "low".

As mentioned, you generally get what you pay for. It's very difficult to find/build a PC that will do a decent job of running modern games for under $1000. Most gaming PCs go for over $1500 while a "really good" gaming PC will cost $2500-$3000.
