Up to four hours depending on the work mode. Meaning most work modes offer less than 4 hours, which is probably without digging or lifting. A landscaping job that’ll normally take a week, might be extended by a few days with additional charges passed on to the client.GordonH wrote: ↑Jan 9th, 2022, 10:40 amDid I read this correctly up to 4 Hrs of continuous use, if so there goes huge chunk of the day recharging it.captkirkcanada wrote: ↑Jan 9th, 2022, 9:29 am https://www.prnewswire.com/news-release ... 53915.html
Ev bobcat on the market.

or you can change the battery , or put solar panels on top , or you could read the article and see it says all day with increment use. no one uses a bobcat 8 hours a day all day unless they are inept on a bobcat.Jlabute wrote: ↑Jan 9th, 2022, 11:07 amUp to four hours depending on the work mode. Last number of snow removal crews most likely are using their bobcat all day long, impo EV bobcat is useless.captkirkcanada wrote: ↑Jan 9th, 2022, 11:14 amor you can change the battery , or put solar panels on top , or you could read the article and see it says all day with increment use. no one uses a bobcat 8 hours a day all day unless they are inept on a bobcat.Jlabute wrote: ↑Jan 9th, 2022, 11:07 am

Okay find out how long it takes to change battery.

Re: Electric Vehicles
.
I saw a popular EV on a tow truck the other day, looked like maybe being taken to somewhere to charge the battery. Cold weather sucks the charge out of batteries. I’d feel very uneasy taking an EV during winter to anywhere away from town. I’d hate to be on the Connector, stranded in snow, and watching my battery die as I froze inside the car, fretting about how (no cell coverage) and the cost to get it towed into town.
Google ‘EV dead battery cold weather’ …a bit scary, (one EV company apparently muzzles its car owners from posting negative comments about their car)
Yes, a gas car could run out of gas away from town, but it would keep you warm by running it periodically and someone can bring or share enough gas to get back.
Hybrids are best of both worlds imo. Also, hybrids generate their own electricity, so no need for solar panels, wind turbines, hydro dams etc.

Even if they can get EV to get to Calgary, it’s the charging time that will really suck.

Re: Electric Vehicles
The batteries can get safer, more energy dense, lighter, but it is extremely difficult to make chemical batteries charge faster. With the GM pickup truck 200kWh battery takes proportionately longer. The same battery delivers fewer miles in the hummer. At these enormous capacities, supplementing with solar is practically useless.if you had a 200W panel covering the roof, and had direct sunlight, how long would it take to fill your 200kWh battery? 1000 hours you say? Half a year of uninterrupted sunshine 6h a day. Good luck with solar lol. Not worth the additional cost.
Your life has to be more organized or you need the ability to charge from home. Fewer people own homes. There will be some times when a deadline causes you to travel with no time to charge. It is highly likely all the GM truck customers also own a home and will spend a few more thousand on a charger. 200,000 GM vehicles have not been delivered as the truck wont be here for quite a while. I am sure Tesla lost a few sales of their Cybertruck. When we talk about scaling up the problem, a semi takes 6 hours to recharge, while hydrogen would take 15 minutes. Time is money to most of the world.

There ya' go. An EV will solve all your problems!
You can probably get yourself on GMs EV truck list now, just in time to get one for 2026 or so. I can hardly wait to see one.

So many strongly held uninformed negative opinions about EV's.

Re: Electric Vehicles
I suppose as Toyota makes Hydrogen vehicles they have a strong opinion against BEV as well. You disagree with Toyota engineers, that's ok. No one pokes fun at you for that. I find there are few justified positive opinions. If you play out EV technology to it's ends, you discover how wasteful the technology is. I brought it up many times but it seems as though many people aren't able to imagine any issues. Either way, no one is stopping you from buying and using your favorite EV. EVs won't save the world. You're just fooling yourself.
If an EV had a solid state battery or some sort of 'better' chemistry that could charge in minutes, was safer and lasted as long as a gas tank, and the average price was lower, I 'might' consider one. I will wait until the technology has matured. Slightly newer battery technology has already obsoleted previous batteries according to GM. Is this what you want to buy in to? Something that is obsoleted every few years because the motor/battery/charger technology isn't perfected or is in flux?
Are you buying a super-charger for your home? Not everyone has a garage. What do you want them to do?

Re: Electric Vehicles
That's not what GM is saying......
https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a ... ic-future/Here's the neat trick: On some Ultium vehicles, such as the Hummer, the top and bottom layers can be temporarily switched from a parallel to a series connection, doubling the voltage to 800. This lets it take full advantage of the highest-output 800-volt Electrify America fast-charging stations. Fittingly, the Hummer's ability to charge at 350 kilowatts means it can draw electricity quicker than any EV on the market today. By switching the pack from 400 to 800 volts for fast-charging, GM avoids paying for the more expensive componentry that's required for an EV to operate at the higher voltage all the time, as the Porsche Taycan does. The Taycan is currently the only EV out there that's capable of charging at 800 volts, albeit at a lower 270-kW peak.

There is currently no infrastructure (or at least very little) to distribute hydrogen. Using hydrogen still requires thousands of explosions a minute if burned in an ICE, each explosion is trying to blow the cylinder constraining it to bits.

Not buying a supercharger until/unless I need one, may build one tho'.
Lots of charging stations operate in open air, a garage is not a constraint.
Daughter has an EV, it lives on the street or in the driveway. She does have to secure the charging cable with a padlock as hers got stolen once.
