Unable To Edit Word Documents
Hello friends. Why I can't edit word documents. I don't know why this is happening and how to solve the issue. Can anyone provide any suggestions in this regard? It will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Unable To Edit Word Documents
Often they are locked because of access protection issues. It will likely say so on the top bar.
Or you are using a Word reader that can’t edit.
Or you don’t have permission to edit.
Or it is a read-only file.
Look at the screen. Somewhere it will tell you.
Do a "save as" and save the file as another name and edit that one.

Re: Unable To Edit Word Documents
To clarify - you're trying to edit a .doc or .docx document correct?
So I guess my 1st question is: Do you have MS word installed and licensed? It's not a cheap product.
If you don't have it installed and licensed, my recommendation is to follow BSUDS advice and utilize Google docs. It's a little cumbersome to upload to google and later download back to your PC. But it works pretty well and it's free!

Any chance you can send a screen shot of a document you are having trouble editing? Don't need to see the text so you can highlight it so it won't be visible but I would like to see the screen.
Praise the lord and pass the ammunition

Libreoffice will edit most formats and is free to install. I've been using it for years.TylerM4 wrote: ↑Jun 25th, 2021, 8:37 am To clarify - you're trying to edit a .doc or .docx document correct?
