Openai chat.

Post by I Think »

Anyone tried using the Openai chat at
https://chat.openai.com/chat

Very interesting straight answers based on googles database of hundreds of thousands of books and papers and other sources.
I believe that Openai is a non profit and is a very (to me) interesting topic.
Virtually unlimited learning available.

I wanted to take a look but you aren’t allowed to browse first as you must log in.

Maybe post a couple of articles here so we can see what they are all about. TIA. :130:

Artificial intelligence chat, thanks but no thanks.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

Only signed on yesterday, tho a week ago was playing with the Openai site that does artwork. it's kinda fun asking for a pic of a pig serving beer wearing a tutu.

On the chat, asked for the meaning of life, for a blues song about being old, asked how the people replaced by automation were going to buy goods, asked about direct democracy, and got interesting factual and cogent answers.
I asked it about q-anon and a few other questions the answer was something along the lines of "I have no programming for that"
Here is the one that got me interested. you tube has a number of sites and google will give you many news articles. Cheers.

Here are a few of the responses I got this morning.

me
how many users online now

I'm sorry, but I am a large language model trained by OpenAI and do not have access to information about the number of users online at any given moment. I am not connected to the internet and do not have the ability to browse or access information from the web. I am only able to provide information and answer questions based on my training and the knowledge that I have been programmed with. Is there anything else I can help you with?

me:
do we have the technology to do direct democracy, where the people decide every issue by voting

It is technically possible to implement a system of direct democracy, where all citizens would have the opportunity to vote on every issue that affects the community. Such a system would require a high level of participation and engagement from the population, as well as robust technology to facilitate the voting process and ensure that every vote is accurately counted. However, there are some challenges and potential drawbacks to this type of system.

Me
Is it allowed to copy one of your answers and paste it into social media thread?

I am a digital assistant and do not have the ability to grant permission for the use of my answers in social media threads or any other context. My answers are provided for informational purposes only and are not intended to be used for any commercial or non-commercial purposes. If you would like to use one of my answers in a social media thread or other context, you should check the relevant terms of service or policies of the platform you are using to ensure that this is allowed. Additionally, it is generally good practice to provide attribution to the source of the information, so if you do choose to use one of my answers, you should credit OpenAI and me as the source.

me
q-anon

I'm sorry, but I am not familiar with the term "q-anon" and do not have the ability to provide information or answer questions about it. As a large language model trained by OpenAI, I do not have access to information from the internet and am only able to provide information and answer questions based on my training and the knowledge that I have been programmed with. I do not have the ability to browse the web or access information from online sources, so if you have any specific questions, I would be happy to help if I can, but I may not be able to provide detailed or up-to-date information on topics outside of my knowledge base.

me
what is openai discord

I'm sorry, but I am not familiar with "OpenAI Discord" and do not have information about it. As a large language model trained by OpenAI, I do not have access to information from the internet and am only able to provide information and answer questions based on my training and the knowledge that I have been programmed with. Ok, watched the interview, listening was a bit difficult as that pretty gal has a strange voice….is she AI generated I wonder?

It looks like it can do so much by way of answering questions, but it’s strength seems to be in coding. Impressive.

I Think, I do think, this site would be of interest to posters such as Jlabute, Glacier and DataCruncher

I will play around in it sometime in the next month when I have more time. Even though I’m on the mature side of life and sliding towards the pit, I still am interested in new developments.

Thanks for digging all that out for us so we could have a peek.

I noticed that she often looks up and to the right when she is speaking with that rather hard to listen to (tho not unpleasant) voice so I asked openai what part of her brain she was accessing,

Response: "Overall, when a person looks up and to their right while they are in conversation, they are likely accessing their visual and spatial memory to recall information and enhance their conversation."

Guess that makes her human.

the site is amazing, you can ask it about cost effectiveness of alternative energy, or if Gorilla glue is flamable when cured.

Yesterday I got into an argument with the chat, asked what size drill should I use for a 5mm tap in aluminum.
It started out by telling me 7.5mm which is dead wrong, took about 4 back and forths before it got it right, I kept telling it why it was wrong.
Today I checked for the drill size for a 1/4" 20 tpi tap and it nailed it, so the machine is learning and is trainable.

It's like having the worlds biggest encyclopedia at home or work, with an intelligent librarian to help you find the stuff you want to know.

It's impressive. There's no end to what it can do... short stories, songs, Shakespearean sonnets, haikus, philosophical essays, book reports, diagnosing medical conditions, coding apps in any programming language, complicated Visual Basic commands for Excel, responding to emails... the list goes on and on.

And I guess this is as good of a time as any to confess...

I wanted to experiment with ChatGPT to see what kind of responses it would get in the forums. The anonymous source I used in my posts on the following thread was ChatGPT (I asked it to write an essay about the happiness of liberals and conservatives with a follow up on what each side blames their unhappiness on), so when I got asked for a link to the author I couldn't provide one.

Almost all of my own responses in that thread were from ChatGPT as well. Where I responded to a previous message, I simply asked ChatGPT to "write a positive response to the following message" and would then paste the message. Then I just copied and pasted what ChatGPT wrote.

I thought it was quite obvious… it sounds way smarter than me! Lol.

It’s also kind of impressive (and maybe a bit scary) that it wrote those short essays all on it’s own too.

Methinks this is the beginning of an era.
No excuse for making arguments based on phony talking points when the facts are readily available.
Will go and ast OpenAI what it has to say about chem trails.

Just asked Open ai to explain the difference between Nuclear fusion and fission, and got this answer, mever really knew the difference so:.

Nuclear fission and nuclear fusion are two processes that release energy through the splitting or combining of atomic nuclei.

Nuclear fission is the process by which the nucleus of an atom is split into two or more smaller nuclei. This process releases a large amount of energy in the form of heat and light. It is the process that powers most of the world's nuclear reactors and is also used in nuclear weapons.

Nuclear fusion, on the other hand, is the process by which two or more atomic nuclei are combined to form a single, larger nucleus. This process also releases a large amount of energy in the form of heat and light. Unlike nuclear fission, nuclear fusion does not produce any harmful radioactive waste. It is the process that powers the sun and other stars, and scientists are working on ways to harness it for use on Earth.

One key difference between these two processes is the amount of energy that is released. Nuclear fission releases a relatively small amount of energy compared to nuclear fusion, which releases many times more energy per unit of mass. Additionally, nuclear fusion is much more difficult to achieve than nuclear fission, which is why it has not yet been used for practical applications on Earth.

Just asked the openai chat to answer a couple of questions, including one about the grid's ability to handle growing numbers of EV's and one about minimum wind speed to make wind turbines cost effective and to both questions got pretty good and balanced discussions.

This site is a huge development, and is going to dismember the talking points about many popular items and replace them.
So if you are using talking points like "there is not enough electricity for EV's, wind turbines are not cost effective, or Democrats are groomers" talking points become completely outdated.
