Wearable AI pin

Post by Queen K »

That does it. I'm calling this the "Mark of the Beast."

It's going to go from an option to wear to "where is your AI id"? Fast.

Humane, a Silicon Valley startup with a star-studded list of co-founders and executives, on Thursday released a $699 device that aims to bring cutting-edge artificial intelligence to a lapel near you.

The Ai Pin, as the device is called, is designed to be worn on clothing and can be tapped to talk to a virtual assistant powered by technologies from ChatGPT-creator OpenAI and cloud computing power from Microsoft (MSFT.O). It uses a laser projection system to display text and monochromatic images on a user's hand.

Founded by ex-Apple (AAPL.O) veterans who worked on the iPhone, Humane is one of many companies in Silicon Valley angling to find the next wave of consumer devices. But the company has emphatically rejected the mixed-reality headsets in the works from companies such as Apple and Meta Platforms (META.O), with Humane co-founder and President Imran Chaudhri saying during a demonstration of the Ai Pin earlier this year that "the future is not on your face."

Instead, Humane is offering a device with no traditional screen that relies almost entirely on artificial intelligence to interact with the user. The Pin's virtual assistant aims to leapfrog others by composing messages in the user's tone of voice and offers a "Catch Me Up" feature to summarize a messy email inbox. The Pin also includes a camera that can take pictures or use computer vision to scan objects like food, telling the user an estimate of its nutritional content.

"Ai Pin is the embodiment of our vision to integrate AI into the fabric of daily life, enhancing our capabilities without overshadowing our humanity," Chaudhri said in a statement.

Where do you think this technology is taking us Even Steven?

I say, "add digital ID" and "e-currency" and it's 1984 for real.
I just read a report that people are being arrested for "liking" certain facebook posts.

It's probably a useless gadget. Anything with AI is hot right now, just like crypto was hot two years ago.

People were crazy about NFTs and pictures of monkeys went for thousands of dollars.

All worthless now, and the hype is gone.

Same here...

Seems to have taken the place of another gadget that disappeared but it's interesting to think it would take the place of smartphones.

An atom has been successfully transported but the last distance I read was one metre. Nothing to write home about

The Wright Brother's flight only went 180 feet, lasted 12 seconds.
I'm posting this from Traditional lands of the British Empire & the current Lands of The Dominion of Canada.
I also give thanks for this ethos richness bestowed on us via British Colonialism.

They had better luck later in the day One atom being transported is a far cry from transporting the numbers by airplane now.

Seems like a worse version of the smart glasses we heard about years ago.

Considering that the glasses went nowhere and I see this as an inferior product - I don't have high expectations.

This is an interesting device, but not particularly keen on buying it. The translation feature is great, but the subscription fee is a turn-off.

Not interested, tech nerds will more than make up for my lack of interest.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.
It appears US voters hated Woke more than they hated Trump.

Oh come on, a camera and mic, really? This should make for some interesting right to privacy lawsuits in washrooms and locker rooms. The maker says it has a "Trust Light" so no one can sneakily record others. Yeah like that can't be hacked!
