Ah yes, I forgot. :hailjo:

Samsung 55" QLED Q82C. And I'm really, really happy with it.
Still waffling on a sound bar. I'm actually surprised at how good the sound is, not what I was expecting.
But we're in the middle of renos and I've had the TV off the wall twice, one more time when the painters come in a week or so. Maybe when that's done with I'll pick up a sound bar.

I got real good at removing it from the wall mount after almost dropping it the first time. :200:

And with a Smart TV, there is so much more to watch. It does help when your kids give you their passwords for the various pay-for-view sites.

And I got it for $100 under the sale price.

How do you do that? I always pay top dollar
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

I dunno. Pick one.
I'm a nice guy.
I got lucky.
I didn't listen to my Pappy when he sang "Don't take your guns to town son,...."
The sales guy thought I was cute.
The sales guy was desperate.
The sales guy sold me the wrong TV.

Kind of reminds me of the time I wheeled my buggy out of Superstore without paying for that 20kg box of kitty litter.

The Q82C has very few reviews and I assume it is a newer TV. Given the price point and year I would assume it is pretty good relative to cheaper TVs. It even has a solar cell remote which is nice. Hopefully it always has the juice for prolonged use (ie smart TV scrolling etc)

Congratulations on your new family member ;-)

4K upscaling!

Did it come with Samsung's SolarCell remote? My last Samsung TV came with a cheap remote. Not the good remote shown on their website or mentioned in reviews. I still love my LG Magic remote.

So true. With free streaming services like Pluto TV and Tubi and also DTV for local news plus Global TV shows like SNL I cut cable TV. Since I'm not paying a penny I don't mind a few ads.

Yeah, it's got the SolarCell Remote. Small and simple. If I'm not on Telus that's all I need. With Telus I use their remote for channel selection, I can use either remote for volume though the SolarCell is better.

No cable, no "rabbit ears", no DVDs here. Just Netflix, Prime, Tubi, YouTube, and some other Roku channels which the TV came with. No need for 4K, or whatever "K" comes up next year. I'm totally happy with my 55" Hisense, which I bought in Costco for ~ $400. Also, they always have it at that price, so there is no "best time" to buy.

To each their own, I wouldn't touch a Hisense TV with a ten foot pole, and if for some inexplicable reason I won one, I'd list it in the classifieds that day.

Hisense is solely made in China which I prefer not to support, while most of the other TV's we get here are made in Mexico, which is better than supporting China any day.

If you want to make political statements with your choices, that's fine with me. But in my books, it's my needs vs the cost.
