Space X rocket launch

Post by Queen K »

So the thing explodes minutes after take off and NASA is calling using billions in US tax dollars for it a "success".
Gaslighting anyone?

And I like how the announcer talks about how rockets like this were to be used to "return astronauts to the moon." Uhhhh if the early moon landings were so successful, just go back to using 1960s technology. The same science that got all those guys to the moon.

Because obviously returning to the moon is proving challenging with tech from 2023.

Wait until they get into manned Mars missions. Talk about challenges and $$.

The first Mars mission. I doubt we'll ever see those fools again.

Go back to 1960's technology? Why would they do that? How many rockets did the USA and the USSR blow up before they met with success? Now two rockets blow up and it's a failure? [icon_lol2.gif]
Their Falcon 9 has successfully landed 246 out of 259 launches, no reason Starship won't do as well.
Reusable vs expendable, hot-stage separation, a huge difference compared to 60's tech.

[icon_lol2.gif] ... Mars sounds like a great place to live! High of 20C at noon down to -153C at the poles. Imagine your heating bills!

I like what the comedian Wanda Sykes said about NASA and mars ...
There was probably life on mars, then they probably starved to death because they spent their money on a space program!

It wasn't cost-effective to save Mars' ecology or bodies of water. Someone had to make money.

No, global warming probably did them in.

Wanda Sykes again on NASA and mars...
Did you know that there was once water on mars. ... Oh I'm sorry are you talking to me, because I don't give a f**k.
They should put Elon and Trump on the next test flight and aim it towards the sun. If it doesn't blow up the mission will still be a success!

Y'all don't really understand what's happening with Starship eh'. Every other rocket that's every launched always blows up an never returns to earth.

* Elon's a knob and it's not about him, it's about the people behind him who are making this possible
* Designed to be the first ever reusable rocket
* Second time that the Booster has ever flown
* It's the largest flying structure ever made--total height is around 42 stories high and 35 ft wide
* Heaviest flying structure ever made. Fully loaded this thing weights more than 5000 tons
* Between the test flight earlier this year and now they've radically redesigned the stage separation and are using a hot-staging. Never before has an existing rocket had a drastic and dramatic redesign as this without being redesigned
* The 33 Raptor engines powering the Booster and Starship are the most technological advanced engines ever created. These engines are the first full-flow staged combustination engines which many factors more efficient than a traditional gas-generator cycle used in most other rockets. Full flow engines were deemed impossible to build by the US government and not explored
* Most people don't realize that after the Saturn 5 retired, almost every rocket afterwards used Soviet/Russian era engines as America's rocket engines were way to expensive or required complicated fuel mixtures.
* Yes, Elon's a knob and it's not about celebrating him

But hey, don't take my word for it--but instead take one of the most respected rocket reporters in the biz, or The Entire Soviet Rocket Engine Family Tree

You're sounding like Either USA or USSR never blew up before succeeding!

It didn't explode, it was a "rapid unscheduled disassembly". Sheesh, get it right, will ya ? O.O

Almost felt bad for Elon watching his brand go up in smoke - then I remembered,
