Say no to the rice

Apple has officially made a statement about how putting your wet iPhone into a bag of rice can be harmful. Just imagine a device where you could pop the cover off to allow it to more easily dry....

Just think of how many idiots who have no clue what they are doing able to access the inside of a smart device of any kind.OldBlindDog wrote: ↑Feb 20th, 2024, 12:33 pm https://gizmodo.com/apple-warning-again ... 1851269963

This idiot liked to have the ability to change his own batteries and easily do upgrades on his ancient Samsung. I like companies that try not to idiot-proof things too much. Give me the phone I can take apart myself, and the laptop where I only need to unscrew one screw and remove one panel to upgrade my hard disk any day.

True, basic things like that should be accessible by the consumer without having to pay someone to fix it. But there are limits.OldBlindDog wrote: ↑Feb 20th, 2024, 1:37 pmThis idiot liked to have the ability to change his own batteries and easily do upgrades on his ancient Samsung. If rice dust could get into these phones, then water could even easier. I was under impression that they are fairly water tight. If they could make wrist watches water resistant (to great depths), then why not phones?

Really how many iPhone owners have a iPhone older than the iPhone 7, according to Apple iPhone 7 onward does have some level of waterproofing.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

I use a $200 unlocked Motorola phone from Costco. Just works for all my needs. And no 2-year plans. If I break or lose them, I just go and buy another one. I am on the third one already within a couple of years. Far better than buying a $1k+ phone.
